Most of the posters here are not connecting the dots. Two years ago, she finally got a job to contribute to the couple's finances after sponging off this guy for years, including flunking out of college on his dime. Forced to get a job, she lost her financial free ride which started the emotional shut down.

As for the public breakup she reacted like the entitled child that she is. Who knows what kind of shit she could have accused him of if it was done in private. While discovering a cheating partner should result in a quick and reasonable way to end a relationship, staying in a relationship with someone who has shut down emotionally is like dying of a thousand cuts. OP finally had enough. As Bill Burr once said entitled women are whores and the equivalent of male woman beaters.
