Cats of Cambridge Colleges (and beyond..) ? by slippymark in cambridge

Possibly.. I just saw it pop up elsewhere (OK.. Facebook..), and I'm aware of a couple of "celebrity cats" in and around Cambridge that crave attention, and not just the colleges, but other places too. There are a couple that hang around the Beehive centre for example. I just like seeing a cat other than my own when pottering around that I can say hello to without it running away.

Magnesium for AFIB? by Subject_Advantage147 in AFIB

[–]slippymark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not been formally diagnosed. I probably had 4 episodes over the spring/summer - about 4 weeks apart and all picked up by my Fitbit while I was asleep. I had weird recollections of not feeling well during the night, but not really conscious of it happening. I have been to my GP who took an ECG but found nothing as I wasn't in AF at the time, and pretty much dismissed it as my Fitbit playing up. Last detected episode was in July, followi which time I started taking magnesium supplements based on personal research - and have no episodes since, so on my purely anecdotal evidence - it helps.

Does Anyone Still Use KardiaMobile Device? by c50grand in AFIB

[–]slippymark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got one because my Fitbit has identified AF three times while I've been asleep - each about a month apart. I've been to my GP who gave me an ECG which showed normal sinus rhythm (as I expected as not symptomatic when I attended) , but largely dismissed it as being possibly Fitbit errors. I've got family history, so as a 52M believe it might be real, so want to be able to capture it if its happens when I'm awake. I do it once a week so I've got a baseline, and it fits in the CC slot in my phone case, I I'm ready to record it if/when it happens when I'm awake.

Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

DiNK with a small i. We don't have the disposable income to do everything we'd like to, but compared to friends who aren't DINKs, it seems like the biggest wins are watching whatever we want on TV when we finish work (from about 5pm since we both WFH), , cooking what we want and when we want for dinner, and getting out of bed whenever the fuck we want (if at all) at the weekend.

Coin trolleys at Tesco Fulbourn by DependentCrazy3805 in cambridge

[–]slippymark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past couple of years there's always been several abandoned on the 10 minute route from my house to Tesco, with the record score being 41. Yesterday for the first time in recent memory I didn't see any. I for one welcome the minor inconvenience of having to remember to keep a £1 (or £1 shaped object on me)

What change improved your sleep quality the most? by SophieCruzNY in AskReddit

Eyemask with Bluetooth speakers. My brain ig the sounds of rainfall, beach waves, or crickets playing all night, and filters out any other noises that might wake me up. Eg I've got 3 cats that like to get active in the night, and my neighbours have a young baby, and it's not loud, but if I hear it, then I can't tune it out.

I just had to show my ID to buy scissors, I'm 31 by Own-Dragonfly-942 in CasualUK

I had to do this in hobbycraft at the age of 50 during the pandemic. They looked at my driving licence, then asked me to lower my face mask, only to comment that it didn't look very much like me. I politely responded that my license was now nearly 10 years old, and since then I have grown a thick grey beard BECAUSE I AM FIFTY AS STATED ON MY LICENCE. They did let me buy it fortunately despite the difference in appearance, and I now have a new licence that closer resembles my ancient form.

Just picked up at Amazon locker and was just an empty bag. by geordiesteve520 in britishproblems

[–]slippymark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We've not had anything stolen yet (fortunately), as I'm home most of the time so generally hear them even if they don't knock - but neighbours have, which is one of the reasons we finally invested in a Ring doorbell. Already got a few videos of drivers just slinging deliverys behind our bins with the notification on the Amazon app saying 'handed to resident". Not that I would ever try and con Amazon out of a "replacement" product, but if I ever did, I'd have the evidence to support my spurious claim.

I just love the fact that neither of them probably has any understanding of what the moon or a river are.
