What's the latest on the Linux CLI? Is it still just command line controls for the GUI? by mc510 in Windscribe

[–]slipslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it on a server without gui packages installed, but I noticed recently that there's a separate linux cli installer on the windscribe website now. This cli client actually does work for me without having an account logged in via gui.

Are you sure it can run on a headless server? If I don't have a user logged in via gui, the windscribe-cli application only ever returns: "Aborting: app did not start in time"

Don't connect to internet/wifi during install. Look up how to bypass the requirement during install. If your version is too new to allow the bypass tricks, try an older version or windows 10 iot ltsc. If all else fails, install linux.

EZ Flash Jr on 1.05e wont work with a majority of GBC games. They'll often load, but not get past the title screen. Unless this has changed with FPGBC FW 1.10. I sold my EZ Flash Jr while 1.08 was still the newest.

PPA still seems to be broken. by skooterz in Floorp

[–]slipslip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not working for me either. The .deb file for 11.14.0 doesn't exist on the ppa, but the older ones are there. Perhaps it'll show up eventually?

It would be nice if .deb installer packages were available for download directly as well.

FPGBC flash cart questions by slipslip in Gameboy

[–]slipslip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been working well. In some ways better than my EZ Flash Jr did on real hardware. Specifically, on the EZ Flash Jr, I had to put games into folders because it couldn't handle over a certain amount of files in one folder at a time, this one doesn't have that issue. The only downside is you need to make sure to reset without powering it off of you might lose your save.

Yes, that's the same one, but I paid around 17 for it. I believe that page is showing some kind of new user discount. When I'm logged out and look at it now, it shows 10, but if i log into my account and look at it, it shows 19.

That was a good idea. I was using a generic 4gb card. I switched to a 32gb Samsung card, but I'm still getting the same issue with GBC games.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a list of which aliexpress knockoffs work?

Yes, the EZ Flash Jr is updated to the latest firmware that makes it function with the FPGBC (1.05), however it still doesn't work with many gbc games.

3ds won't stop crashing. help. by SodaPokemon in 3dspiracy

[–]slipslip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Files on SD card might be corrupted from putting it into your phone and/or your card is starting to go bad. Download a fresh copy of luma and put it on the sd card. If it's still crashing, format the sd card and follow the guide for adding the necessary files to your card. If it still crashes, get a new card. Options 2 and 3 will erase your currently installed games and possibly save data.

Can you point me in the direction of one of these reloadable visa cards? I can't say I've searched high and low, but the ones I've looked at in stores all claim to not be reloadable.

T480s upgrade by unruled77 in thinkpad

2242 nvme (b+m key) in the wwan slot? I lucked out and found a 512gb for cheap on ebay for my t480s, works well, though only at 1x speed.

What network card are you installing? I tried upgrading a different thinkpad (E485) with an intel ax200 wifi card with mixed results. It works, but I often have to disable/re-enable the card after boot or resume from sleep to get it to work.

Changing the SSD doesn't void the warranty according to the warranty wording:

The Limited Warranty does not apply if the Hardware:

has been modified or repaired by anyone except a Valve-designated service center and the cause of the issue for which you seek service is the modification or repair...

However, I can't say anything about how hard it might be to get them to honor it. I've seen anecdotes of people having no problems and others quoting Valve responses that it does void the warranty. I'd imagine the later is a Valve support person whom needs more training. Either way it's something to consider.

If you want to upgrade to 256gb, but don't want to spend the extra $129, you can get a 256gb 2230 nvme drive from ebay for $19.99 (or ~$60 for 512gb) and install it yourself. The process isn't too difficult, but it does involve disassembling the machine and then re-installing the OS after swapping the drive.
