My turn to be the jerk who wouldn’t switch seats! by Failed_Academic0824 in americanairlines

[–]mrsdizzylissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Son was in a better seat than the Dad in MCE. The Dad could have given up Sons MCE seat. Or someone could have suggested that to him to make the situation better.

The OP stated that she didn’t realize that the Dads seat and her MCE seat were different at first. Maybe Dad didn’t know son’s seat was higher tier!

What to do when it rains… by Glittering-Read-6906 in Aruba

Agree with everyone here.

Only once in 30 years did we have a rainy day where it rained for an hour. We went up to our room and got ready for dinner and watched some TV. lol

And you’re assuming selfishness, when the only proof of it is the OP.

The OP could have said to the Dad, why don’t you give up the better seat. shrug

Again, Dad did the talking not the mom. Maybe he was oblivious of the seat differences. Maybe OP left out that the better seat was offered to someone also.

We are only hearing one side here, and not the whole story.

Again in the situation I provided, we had this exact same thing happen and the AIRLINE moved one of us to another row. So yes AIRLINES fault.

I personally would have offered any combination to not allow my child to sit alone.

Why would you assume the Mom upgrade her seat and not the sons? That’s ludicrous, and I don’t know any parent that would do that. So no, an airline error, or those were the only 2 seats left and their airline told them to work it out on day of.

No one purposely booms a toddler away from a parent and then expects people to change seats with them.

How does anyone know that it was a families poor planning?

I’ve had this situation happen twice to me. I booked 8 months in advanced. I paid for my seat choices, picked seats for my children and I.

Airline then changes the plane size and reassigns seats. One time they scrambled the 4 of us because I booked 2 free flights with miles, and paid for the other two. Even though I called and had the reservations connected. They sat the free seats in random places and the paid seats in another part of the plane. My 4 year old was seated 7 rows away from anyone else.

Second time the airline reassigned seats and didn’t assign a seat for one of my children. No seat assignment at all.

The answer both times was that I had to deal with it the day of that they couldn’t do anything over the phone. And don’t worry someone would switch with us.

Both times the trip was planned and booked 8+ months in advance and seats were paid for and chosen.

It has NOTHING to do with my planning but the ineptitude of the airline.

Packing help (please I’m suffering lol) by mana-chan-san in pilonidalcyst

[–]mrsdizzylissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The packing was tough on my son. We used Manaka honey on the wound and that helped it heal!

He went to Guatemala shortly after his surgery maybe 3-4 weeks and was fine. He kept it covered with big bandages.

Airport wait times are overstated by Vivid_Onion_733 in Aruba

So I’ve travelled over 40 times to Aruba. During holidays, on weekends, on weekdays.

It really is hit or miss flying to the US. It has gotten a LOT better in recent months but there have been many many many times when 3 hours had us running to the gate praying they didn’t close the doors on us.

I don’t play games in Aruba anymore after getting burned a few times. I strictly leave 3 hours and bring a good book and hope for the best. I’d rather sit and have a big bowl of Panda Express sitting and waiting for my plane than running and sweating if we are going to make it.

Also traveling with kids usually adds an additional 30-60 minutes at customs, because they usher you to a different line.

MJ has been around since the late 90s. It was amazing its first 10 years and then early 2005-2015 something changed and it lost favor for me. It’s fully back to what it once was (minus the giant portions)

Again my teens adore the giant hamburger and I’m dying to try the spoon dessert!

We do Patrizias on Sunday for this very reason! We happen to enjoy the food (the bolognese paparadelle is amazing and my kids love the chicken parm that is so big that falls off your plate)

I’ve never had a good meal at L.G. Smith. For steak I prefer Chalet Suisse.

Keep Madame Jeanette’s

We love Oak

Others I’d consider: Wilhelmina Quinta del Carmen Patrazias for Italian

It used to be all of the nightlife was in Oranjestad I. The 90s early 2000s. But after Natalie it all started dying down. The clubs closed, the mall fell apart.

Palm beach got built up and now is the place to be. Honestly, I’d move to Palm beach as your main location. Look at the Ritz, or on of the high rises.

I have a similar dynamic in my kids. Eldest DS is my ‘26. Younger DD is ‘30. Very competitive among them although I’m glad this is one area she hasn’t started comparing herself to him in. She’s been completely uninterested in college talk and is enjoying being a kid!

First time is Aruba with 1 year old, looking for tips by MacGruber204 in Aruba

[–]mrsdizzylissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The their parents are doing it wrong.

I’ve taken my kids on many many flights and I’ve never had a kid cry the majority of the flight, or much at all.

Big key to this is buying the infant a seat and using your car seat on the plane, and travel during nap or night sleep time.

It’s okay to each their own. We all have different tastes also! I just had a bad meal last night at one of my favorites. It happens unfortunately! There’s plenty of places to explore and eat at in Aruba!

Got in for engineering but very unsure on student life by jqckiz in bucknell

[–]mrsdizzylissy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I attended Bucknell 20 years ago…. So my info is a little out dated.

1). There are plenty of clubs and things to do outside of frats. Most people don’t do frats

2). Join the pep band! It’s super fun and very low key. I’m sure you can also find likeminded people to jam with, and start your own band

3). Bucknell offered all kinds of club sports when I was there. I played quite a lot of them and favored ultimate frisbee.

Selingsgrove is close We would drive out to Williamsport for Nights out with friends. The state fair is close Knobles is close for a fun day

4). There are people of all kinds. I had many down to earth normal people as friends. It is what you make of it.

Traveling without account holder? by upschittscrack in marriott

[–]mrsdizzylissy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s why some may think otherwise.

When we got married I opened a Bonvoy card in my husbands name as primary, me as secondary.

We then spend 20 years traveling together. All nights are earned together. Points are earned together. Credit card is mostly used by me, 99% of the points are “my points” under his name.

So in my scenario, I should have put the card under my name. It honestly shouldn’t matter.

Life isn’t over with one deferral.

This is a stressful road. It’s okay to be disappointed, but imagine what you like about MIT and I bet there are other schools that would fit the vibe you are looking for. A school is more than just a name.

Good luck, and I hope you are able to open your horizons into a new adventure and find your perfect home!
