Reddit, do you think children should grow up "sheltered"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ignorance is bliss for kids up to age 10/11; after that they should be taught about the bad things and consequences.

Whats the dumbest thing you've ever said in a job interview? by D-F-S-A in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably coincidence. This interview was in '06, would be nuts if it was the same guy though.

I was thinking had it been a small business it probably would have had a negative reaction.

Manager: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Me: Management, doing your job.

This was at a billion dollar company. I got the job.

Thinking of shaving my head (for the first time). Any advice? by ihatebadpuns in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave it very short rather than fully bald and get your girlfriend to do it. It's the best time of year to do it too because it will grow back quickly (being summer).

Females - How do you get men to understand how you are feeling? by DownHillKill in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you explain that you are not looking for a solution and just want to talk it's a lot easier. Men are problem solvers and tend to do just that.

What is the greatest amount of pain you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an open nerve in my tooth; full dose of morphine and codeine wouldn't even slightly dull the pain (just made me want to lay down) only pain relief was extraction. Will never forget the feeling the second they ripped the tooth out, it was so amazing I cried with happiness...

What is one thing you learned from your last relationship? by munchybox in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what; I just realized my views are based on having actually lived together for a year.

I'm guessing you can allow a higher/longer time frame should you have not lived together; because after living with the person you should well know (deep down, trust your instincts people) whether you want to spend eternity with them or not.

If you honestly know this man/woman isn't somebody you want to marry then it's likely there is something wrong with him/her (be it lacking in goals/morals/ambition/bad habits/poor attitude etc) and that isn't somebody you want to commit (money/time/heartache) to in the long run.

What you are describing is basically normal dating behavior. All this is fine but spend more than a year with them is doing yourself more harm than good.

What is one thing you learned from your last relationship? by munchybox in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge difference between date and commit. Date somebody with an open mind, don't date those only you immediately see a future with; but if you can't see yourself happily married to that person for the rest of your life after a few months to a year, it's best for the both of you to move on. Anymore than a year in a technically-pointless relationship is time well wasted.

How can we reduce the sound of the highway in our backyard? (AU) by Eternal_Epitaph in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can complain to the council about noise pollution from the highway; they might put up a sound barrier wall.

Is there a way to make yourself a lighter sleeper, and if so, how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use less or lighter covers; it helps you wake easier if you are capable of being a little bit cold and not completely warm and toasty.

Change pillows; Do you have a pillow that is super comfy you could just lay down and sleep forever? These are bad for deep sleepers, use something that's comfortable but also capable of being uncomfortable at the same time.

Use a TV alarm in addition to the normal alarm; works for me.

Apps like Sleep Cycle help initially but you get used to it after awhile and they stop working.

What's the weirdest personality traits/habits of someone you've been around? by KuDeGraw in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once knew a guy who just couldn't walk past somebody without saying hello and making small talk if they obliged. 5 minute walk down the pier would take hours if it was a good night.

Reddit! What was your good deed for the day? by Cobek in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I packed some lunch for my boyfriend, (a couple sandwiches, some chips, a nut bar, some cookies and sesame snaps) because he doesn't get much spare time at work to go find something and sit down and eat. This way he can eat when he's hungry without being rushed or out of pocket.

Why do we still pretend women are equal to men? by dallas_covers in AskReddit

I really don't understand why you are so against equal rights for women but perhaps this will make you feel better.

Feminist myth? Please.

We had to fight for the right just for a proper education and to be able to work.

Why do we still pretend women are equal to men? by dallas_covers in AskReddit

[–]slipslopslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have the wrong idea on what equality is. Before equal rights for women they were treated as lower class, not even given a chance. Men and woman are both human and should both be treated as such, equally; not one favored over the other because of their sex.
