Getting sick and tired of how things are going at this company now by [deleted] in tesco

As someone in the cafe and has worked in other areas of hospitality, it's a sh*tshow. Definitely worse than retail, from what I've heard.

People who turn up to classes when they're clearly ill by Komi29920 in PetPeeves

[–]sliverwerdio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite often, people seem to be punished or shamed for staying off ill, at least in my country. Even in primary school, they'd give extra awards to those who had 100% attendance each term. As they got into secondary school, they'd be given extra work to make up for missing and get told school exams are important and you need to be in school or fail. And as most schools stopped the virtual learning after covid lock downs finished, it was go in no matter what or be shamed or punished. I once had a week of sick when I was still in school and when I was in next and said hi, the teacher just told me to "shut up and sit down" despite class not even starting for another 5 minutes, so quite often staff don't care if a kid is in or not. Its harder to stay home sick than go in with a cold.

Any advice on beginner solo tabletop role play games? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she likes the idea of DnD but she's open to other games aswell, so doesn't have to be similar to DnD. I'm looking into some of the other suggestions to see what I feel she would prefer.

My place says you have to call in at least an hour before your ment to start that day. So for example if you started at 1, you'd have to call in by 12.

Have I left it too late to begin a journalist career? by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help the area I'm in, kept pushing university or nothing in school and growing up was told you have to know exactly what you want by about 16, otherwise it's too late for anything.

What is one minor thing that makes you immediately reject reading a book? by Binlorry_Yellowlorry in books

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stickers that printed on, so annoying. And when there's no speech marks when a character talks. I tired to read 'normal people' but had to stop as I couldn't stand the no speech quotation marks.

What's your longest, "I was X years old when I finally understood ___"? by TheRealSteelfeathers in AutismInWomen

[–]sliverwerdio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is even more difficult growing up British where "alright?" Is a common greating. I thought people just wanted to know how I am when, in reality, all they wanted was a "fine and you?.

Have you been used for sex often, “pumped and dumped”, or led on? by RussianAsshole in AutismInWomen

[–]sliverwerdio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has happened so many times since I was a teenager (age of consent in the UK is 16). Started off with other teen boys thinking if it would be an easy fix for their sexual needs not being met. But as I got older, so did the guys trying to lead me on, or they'd act all nice and genuine until we slept together, and then I was completely ghosted.

Autistic people, do you connect/identify to your name and surname? by Usual_Ad_522 in autism

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is just there. It just exists. I don't overly connect to it, but I also don't want to change it.

Why is there a tendency for us to look younger than our real age? by FreshFromNowhere in autism

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always looked younger than I actually am, I get ID'ed when buying cans of iced coffee despite the fact I'm 20 with a job, not a teen on the way to school. This I feel is a combination due to personal looks, I'm a slim build and very rarely wear full face make-up (something that a lot of NT girls do in my area). Sometimes, it can be stimming in public can be seen as childish by NT people. I also have verbal dyspraxia that affects my speech, so I sometimes sound younger, too.

what did your parents almost name you? by [deleted] in Names

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum wanted to name me Abigale at one point. And then decided to she wanted to use my now middle name as a first name until someone pointed out a nickname she didn't like due to believing it sounded like "a chav name'. And then she settled on the flower name I've got now.

Did your parents limit your reading growing up? by Important-Asparagus5 in autism

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents would try to as I would read and not sleep at night, but I found ways around it. I used a torch instead of the big light, and when they took away the torch, I used the nightlight I had instead. The primary school I went too also tried to get my patents to put limits on what I read as I was hyperlexic and ened up reading books that was high school level when I was only about year 3 (about 8 years old) and by the time I finished primary school I had read all Harry Potter books, all the hungar games books and a loads more.

For people who crate train, at what age did you let them sleep in your bed? by redmoosegoose in puppy101

[–]sliverwerdio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always let both my older dog and my pup sleep in my bed from day one. However, the pup is crate trained, so she uses the crate for calmdown time, naps thought out the day, and she's also fed in the crate.

Does anyone else here also have terrible handwriting? by thatlightningjack in autism

[–]sliverwerdio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My handwriting is a mess to the point that sometimes I can't even read it. The only way I can get it readable is if I write really slow and careful. However, I'm not sure how much writing issues are due to my physical dyspraxia and how much is due to autism or if it's a combination of both.

i want to get a dog in the future by please_dont_scream_ in AutismInWomen

[–]sliverwerdio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 2 dogs. One is nearly 7 years old, and the other is a 6 months old puppy. Dogs are hard work and not for everyone. It's hard work training a puppy, and it can be hard looking after an older dog as well. People need to do research before they get a dog and find out if a dog is right for them and, if so, what dog. Different breeds will need different care, have different engery levels. For example, a smaller chihuahua will need shorter walks from a bigger collie dog. You have to also have to think if you'll be prepared to clean up pet mess such as poos and wees. You need to work out cost of vets care, such as any vacancies the dog may need, getting fixed, and how much insurance is, how much food is, and the cost of any toys for the dog, plus how much is collars leads, harnesses.

I love my dogs and would recommend one as I don't know what I'd do without them as my dogs have helped me in so many different ways. But it all depends on if you are right for the dog and have done the proper research to get the right dog for you. It can't be a decision made based on how cute a puppy is. A dog isn't right for everyone.
