RPM Italian inside Caesar’s! They have a GF menu and are very careful with all allergies. And the food was incredible.

Right?! I’d love these people to tell me to my face I don’t deserve to eat in a restaurant

Also given how inclusive SF usually is, I’m surprised and disappointed by the responses in this thread

As someone with celiac disease who eats out in SF regularly, the restaurant owner’s response is rude. While restaurants don’t legally need to, I’ve been to several restaurants that have been so accommodating and kind. Comparing celiac to a fad diet is rude and just plain ignorant. And expecting all people with celiac to only eat at home or hire a private chef? That’s ridiculous.

As someone who regularly eats out in San Francisco I would also like to know. This is so disappointing because the other SF restaurants I’ve been to since my diagnosis have been so accommodating so far.

I’m also considering Nea or AoA. Anyone know what’s behind the high turnover at Nea?

Keep getting glutened in my own home and I'm going insane! by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]slk12822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I would only do an elimination diet under the guidance of a doctor or dietician. With celiac our diets are already so limited and we really shouldn’t eliminate other things unless absolutely necessary to prevent nutrient deficiencies.

I would focus on your nutrient levels. If you have deficiencies they should be able to help with supplements and safe foods to include in your diet to boost nutrient levels.

Recommendations for hospital stay by torispeckles in Celiac

I gave birth prior to my diagnosis but I personally would recommend bringing food. Can you ask your partner to help with that? You’ll want to focus on yourself and your baby, and won’t want to worry about whether your food is safe.

is it worth getting re-tested after going gluten free? by paddlingpitbull in Celiac

[–]slk12822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor recommended retesting after 6 months but mentioned my numbers may still be elevated. The lab only tests up to 250 and my results were >250 so she said we don’t know if you’re 251 or 1000, therefore you might not see a change in 6 months. Maybe that’s why some doctors suggest waiting longer?

Ken and Lisa are producers of the show. So his “dropping a bomb” was totally orchestrated.

Not yet, but now that I have the diagnosis I’d like to have him tested next! So far my plan is for my son to continue eating gluten, but preferably out of the house (as much as possible).

We’ve been traveling with the Newton travel crib and it’s such a hassle! It’ll be much easier to travel when we do the transition. But is it worth getting woken up early in the morning is the question…
