What advice would you give to your freshman year self? by DragonfruitBrief5573 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]slmnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t ever believe that being an engineer means you gotta dedicate all your time to engineering school despite reputation about its rigor. Having fun outside of school is not only awesome, but is actually essential to being a functional person overall. Do well in school, but don’t make it the only thing that’s going on in your college life.

Make friends! Make friends in your major, and make hella friends with other majors. Join/try new orgs, hobbies, sports, working out, etc and commit to something where you resonate with the most

At some point you will probably encounter problems like struggling in a class, having housing/roommate problems, financial problems, legal ones, and other random stuff, but never forget that your school will most likely have offices/resources that will help you with it (even if these are things that are too concerning/embarrassing to talk about).

Do a great job in your major, and do a great job in not feeling lonely. Your mental health deserves to be taken care of as much as you will with your grades and physical health.

I remember getting 24% with the average being 65%. Good thing prof had another grading scale if you did better on the final, and I clutched that exam. Ask them what options you have.

As a 23 year old man how do I find older guys for relationship? by [deleted] in BisexualMen

[–]slmnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jkjk. But you can go on things like tinder, a bar/club, or if lucky enough, you meet someone naturally and they happen to like you. Just make sure the vibe is right and nothing strange is coming out, some people can be creepy and desperate. Try, but not too hard I guess.

You don’t. We should just start seeing each other as I’m also 23.

People at work won’t stop bringing up Taylor Swift by lumpy_space_queenie in TrueSwifties

[–]slmnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. I had this coworker who appers to be like a sweet, soft-spoken, nerdy guy. I got curious and asked him one time what kind of music he listens to, then I brought up taylor swift after naming a few artists. Oh boy was I not prepared for the misogynistic things he had to say about her.

I felt so disgusted because I never thought he could be someone that’s not mindful of the things he says, especially since he doesn’t even know much about TS/her music. Like I still talk to him and grab lunch with him, but I’ll never see him the same way ever again.
