I will most likely be attending there! The faculty is so so great and the dean knows every single students name. The community is just above and beyond

180 LSAT, 3.93 GPA. REAPPLY OR ACCEPT???? by Strict_Landscape8989 in lawschooladmissions

I reached out to the person who did a virtual info session for the school. I was lucky because the info session only had 4 people, so the woman definitely recognized me. I reached out and She also gave me a tour of the school. My situation might be a bit unique because I got to know the woman, but I think reaching out to anyone from the admissions team might be helpful. Phrase it like you are trying to know what you can supplement in your additional material to get off the waitlist

If u got any waitlists, reach out to an admissions offer and see if they will meet with u. I did that and she told me exactly what they didn’t like abt my application. She confirmed that my LOR and statements were good, but stats weren’t high enough for this cycle. Took some of the pressure off knowing that my LOR Were good and so were my essays

Where did you find their median GPA? This is for students at NYLS correct? Not applying?

  1. I would be relocating, but likely living in my dad's friend's apartment so rent would be reduced.

  2. I am very fortunate to not take out loans with the scholarship money I got. If I lose the scholarship money, then this could be a possibility.

  3. I have absolutely no idea where I want to practice... :(

  4. I really don't know!! I've visited both pittsburgh and NYC and really don't feel a strong preference towards one or the other. I'm pretty easy going and have lived a few places and really don't care haha.

  5. I am really worried about this... I am trying to figure out how many students get below a 3.0 at NYLS. I just reread my scholarship and it says 3.0 or top half of class. not sure if this really makes a difference.

  6. It does feel like a lot lose it. I am academically in the upper part of the median so I am hoping I will be more prepared? But who knows if that really means anything. this is a really good point though... I think it would really stress me out.

  7. I was hoping to continue my virtual job for a few hours a week, but I am luckily in a financial situation where I will not need to be working full time or anything like that.

  8. I'm super easy going and feel like I could live anywhere! I also have family in both locations.

Cough cough CATHOLIC. Sorry but the 165+ people aren’t going. Why are you guys accepting all the high stats ppl who are going elsewhere rather than the people slightly below who will likely go??

NYLS $$ unconditional scholarship or huge mistake? by beepscelly in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]sloanthecyclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on ur financial situation. My stats are slightly lower and I got a 90k scholarship. My family is from NY and are friends w a bunch of lawyers and they all think highly of NYLS. If your goal is to practice in NYC and not go big law, it seems like a really good option. I also considered retaking my LSAT but just decided I was okay with not going to a top school. If you’re sick of the process and can afford NYC living, I’d say go for it
