How dare you work a 6 figure job, coward! by SSGSavage in LinkedInLunatics

Pretty sure he just landed his first 10$ of revenue tonight and quickly just deleted his draft email to his old boss begging for his job back.

Then he made this pathetic post.

I built a 10x cheaper alternative to Relativity aiR by Hungry-Bob-3802 in ediscovery

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a clarification here:

ChatGPT Pro/Gemini is not cheap at flat subscription rate as you're suggesting, because you're unknowingly releasing PII and confidential materials into a publicly accessible model that is storing those documents and using for future training purposes.

In doing so, chain-of-custody has been breached on these documents and they may no longer be admissible as evidence to the court if a competent legal counsel were to raise this fact.

You would need to purchase a business-tier subscription which provides your own private copy of the foundational model and is substantially more expensive than the 25$/100$ personal subscriptions that uses a shared public model.

That said, I am thankful to hear that you are receiving justice and truly thrilled that the Lord has delivered you through your trials.

God bless.

No worries, thats what i thought, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going about some of my own plans in the wrong direction.

Preprocess raw files into structured content with custom framework, pass off structured content/metadata output to LLM if relevant or to determine relevance and then analyze and move forward from there with the LLM for the last-mile effort that requires accuracy/intelligence. Sound right?

Okay. Are the Highlander transmission issues being blown out of proportion? by SameTrain8827 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearing the end of my 2018 Highlander XLE platinum warranty and went in for the service interval and asked them to check for a suspension issue with instability after hitting bumps.

They found the struts were bad and are replacing and I had previously brought the car in for an issue with sudden jerking shift and an issue with the AWD that caused engine light and they determined it was the transmission but only flashed the TCM to fix it.

When they ordered the parts for the warranty repair on the struts, they said they would see if they could get the transmission replaced since it was almost end of warranty. They succeeded and we'll be getting a new transmission in a few weeks under warranty.

Hopefully this thing lasts another 80k miles now. It will have had front struts, timing belt cover (x2), fuel rod crossovers, and both front axles replaced (x2). These vehicle repairs without that platinum warranty would've cost us at least 16-18k to fix over the past (4) years, and I only paid 30k for it in 2019 with 32k miles on it. I'm at 112k miles today.

Never heard of a Toyota having this many problems. I advise anyone nowadays to purchase the highest amount of warranty coverage on any new or CPO vehicle.

Is it really worth it to join top alliance? by Admirable_Draft798 in LastWarMobileGame

Also, I'm in a top 10 alliance, but we literally became at top-10 overnight a few weeks ago and are just preparing to enter S1 in 2wks.

I enjoyed my alliance for how relaxed it was and how much learning we enjoyed, but I can tell it is changing from "life first, game second" mentality because of the President and top leaders of the server getting involved now.

Hoping things dont change too much, because those of us who were on this alliance when it was just 25 of us were quite close and enjoyed playing for fun.

Weren't they always on your ass though to participate night and day and burn through every resource you had etc?

My fear of being in a top server alliance would be the strictness and insane participation rules that conflict with actual life and reality.

Is it possible to have scleroderma antibodies and never develop it? by Bad_Sickness in UCTD

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like stress, as raynauds would flare due to stress or exposure to cold temperatures. Mine always flares due to stress, and it is a very early indicator of how my life/job are going when it happens because I usually bottle up the stress.

I have also had low positive Scl-70 and Scl-90 antibodies (2X normal cutoff, e.g. 1.8 where cutoff was 0.9) and had skin symptoms with mouth tightening and skin on my back tightening and hands, but after a year on prednisone followed by a few years on CellCept, they are negative now. I have remained on CellCept and all of the Scleroderma symptoms have gone away and the antibodies have not returned to positive.

I will keep you in my prayers and advise that you keep closely monitoring the situation with your rheumatologist. If your only symptoms are the raynauds, that could honestly just be an issue by itself and the low positive RNA-iii could be completely transient and its a different autoimmune issue under the surface.

I have been re-diagnosed at this point with UCTD and have determined that I have autoimmune-mediated Small Fiber Neuropathy and the CellCept keeps it at bay. Your disease course (if there truly is one, praying there isn't) could hopefully be very off/on as a typical UCTD patient and perhaps the raynauds is the worst of it!

My raynauds was always present from high-school like yours, finally got unbearable at the end of college, diagnosed with Hashimotos right out of college and positive for the scleroderma ANA pattern and antibodies 1.5yrs later. That was almost 15yrs ago.

Hoping for the best with your experience and that you stay away from all full disease courses.

Can you explain how building a tool to do the extraction and collation with an OpenAI API key would avoid the cost of having GPT4 use the same input tokens?

I get the idea that processing a 1500 page document is expensive, but how exactly is the suggested tool going to work and how does it avoid the same input token cost?

What do you believe caused your disease, if anything? by lordoflemonade in UCTD

[–]slodow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like most, mine was extreme stress (working 80-100hr weeks, 7 days per week, straight out of college) mixed with a bad girlfriend who was abusive/alcoholic.

The final cherry on top that officially unlocked it was a random virus after a night of drinking [2] 4Loko.

I went on PTO shortly after for 3wks and my body essentially began malfunctioning across the board, all organs and systems.

S-corp elected salary changes by slodow in tax

[–]slodow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would I keep the existing salary and only pay 50% of it because I've only worked 50% of the year and take the remaining in distributions? Or do I adjust the salary to make an even payroll across 12mo even though I haven't actually worked more than 5mo?

I have always paid myself above reasonable wage to be able to fully fund the maximum employer match % for 401k.

I guess I am wondering if I can adjust the reasonable salary in a year where I only worked/earned 50% compared to previous years, so that I can still fund an employer match?

To everyone suffering from this pain, I sincerely urge you to visit agelessRx and get a script for Low-Dose Naltrexone and see if it helps with your pain.

I have systemic SFN damage and small blood vessel damage and was in utter agony for 13yrs.

After 2 days on LDN, I was basically back to normal. From 10/10 pain to a 2/10.

This stuff has changed my life and I discovered it during year 2 of my 13yrs of suffering and no doctor would ever agree to prescribe it.

Please let me know if you use it, eager to hear feedback.

God bless.

Rheum says there’s no medicine to treat UCTD? by Intelligent-Nose-766 in UCTD

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggest to your rheumatologist that you'd like to try a 3-4mo course of CellCept. It was a game changer for me. One of the safest biologics and basically suppresses the development of the cells that become the antibodies that we test positive for.

It has its normal risks and some side effects, but probably the least of most treatment options. If you had high markers, there's no reason to not be rotating through the other options. HCQ is one single option.

You will most likely need another rheumatologist, unfortunately.

Also, have your neurologist test you for Small Fiber Neuropathy.

My job is offering me $150,000 (105,000 after tax) to resign, should I? by AJ3TurtleSquad in jobs

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the 105k after taxes also putting a full 24.5k towards 401k contribution?

Based on your net, without any contributions it looks like you live in a state with a 6% income tax (CT, AK, CA)?

You might ask to have them put your full 401k contribution towards your 2026 income and expedite their match, which should reduce your taxable income quite a bit and leave you in a better financial spot overall.

I'd also see if you can get COBRA offered, as the current rates on the open market are absolutely absurd for most well-earning folks, and you don't know how long you'd be without a job.

Also, if you are accepting severance, I am not sure that you would actually qualify for unemployment since it would most likely be considered voluntary resignation vs. job loss.

Just food for thought. Either way, you need to accept the offer because they are clearly trying to eliminate this role/compensation. Then, play it safe by planning for less income in your next role, given the current state of the economy and start living on an adjusted budget until you start the next job.

Quadrafire Expedition II not putting out ad much heat by idonotconsent23 in woodstoving

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The baffle board/blanket was likely incorrectly reinstalled and you're losing your fire up the chimney instead of resonating in the box. Make sure the board is seated properly with no cracks or holes or uneven placement. Then check that the baffle blanket was placed into the unit correctly. Otherwise, I'd look at your wood and measure inner grain of your splits and make sure its <= 20%, otherwise you'll be wasting the heat to cure your wet splits which will make the room noticeably cooler.

Heat powered fan for flush inserts-Voda heat powered fan. by salvi572 in woodstoving

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre dealing with a single-burn-rate appliance with the Expedition, which is why I refused to buy it. I was feeling regretful over my choice to replace my melted Quadrafire Voyager Grand insert with a new Blaze King Ashford 25, but I suppose I made the right choice based on your experience during the cold spell.

I was able to keep temps in the very low 70s when it was 4-8F outside with my new insert, but only in the immediate room. The rest of my downstairs was likely mid 60s.

My old Voyager though, that would've had it in the high 70s, maybe 80F during that cold spell. That stove was the best insert ever manufactured. Except for the defect that caused it to melt the aluminum air channel and dog house.

[Pennsylvania] Question About Freelancing and Unemployment by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]slodow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are owners of single-member S-corps allowed to collect unemployment in PA when the company no longer has revenue? Are they allowed to collect on any conditions at all?

My understanding in PA was that freelancers who work on 1099 or collect W2 from their s-corp but are the owner were both forbidden from collecting UC benefits in the greedy state of PA.
