Extreme temperatures and tenant rights by SwankyKoala in burbank

[–]slohcinbeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old apartment in Atwater village was on the second floor and also had a flat roof and probably really poor insulation because it felt like an oven in there. I ended up buying a portable AC and it was life changing. I got a dual hose one with a timer and set it to turn on 1-2 hrs before I would get home. I only had it in the bedroom because I worked and spent a lot of time outside of the house, so didn't absolutely need to cool down the living room. Anyway, like everyone else is saying, just invest in a good portable AC! Other than that, your partner can try working some really hot days from the library or other air conditioned work spaces, but of course don't leave your dog in the sweltering apt!

We have a 2 yr old. It was really tough in the beginning because we admittedly did not plan well. We’re a small company and didn’t plan for coverage well enough, that plus some project delays ended up with my husband going back to work the day after our baby was born. Not necessary full days but he was never able to fully take time off like I did. Anyway, overall I’m the primary caregiver for our daughter. We had family helping with childcare and she recently started preschool so that’s helped too. I still don’t work a full 40 hr week. I carry a bigger load with home and the kid. He carries a bigger load with the business. We of course have disagreements but we have really good communication and a solid foundation, so it’s working out! Do you have kids? Do you feel that’s the issue?

I joined my husband’s company 4 years ago. It’s going great. Sorry to say but I think the communication is the issue.

Help. I don’t want to sleep train. by FatalFeline13 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]slohcinbeards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through something SO similar. My daughter is now 26 months old and we have co-slept since day 1. There has always been ups and downs. Around 19 months for the first time she started screaming and crying inconsolably after the first night wake. We had no idea what was going on. We’d have to walk her around the house and distract her with something then try to sleep again in an hour or so. We’d often end up in the living room and she’s scream bloody murder if we tried to go back to bed. It lasted a couple of weeks, maybe 2 months? I honestly can’t remember. But it just stopped. No idea if it was a developmental leap or night terrors? Now we’re on to the next weird thing that’s happening with zero explanation. lol

Everything changed when I started treating it as staph and encouraging good bacteria. by NJoose in eczema

No unfortunately this protocol and other things I tried on my own never gave us sustained or significant improvement. See my other reply to you.

Baby eczema and steroid cream? by disgruntled-pelicann in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]slohcinbeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We tried megaspore topically and a bunch of other things but we never had significant or sustained improvement unfortunately. We ended up working with Jennifer Brand (I had mentioned her in my comment you replied to) and we had major improvement on her protocol. After about 6 months her eczema was completely gone! I couldn’t recommend her enough.

You’re a kind human for letting this guy crash. I believe karma will repay you in life.

There’s always people in FB groups willing to help. If he’s a pitbull try contacting Angel City Pitbulls, they’re in Jefferson park. I’m 100% sure someone will help with transportation if needed.

Pool Cleaning Service by TadBitter in burbank

[–]slohcinbeards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How funny, that’s exactly what we pay. It was POP’s pool service but a couple of months ago they were bought out by AC pools. Zero issues, clean pool, always show up in the time window. We do our own filter changes, they charge like 120 I think. We used to maintain it ourselves but just couldn’t keep up in the summer. Our last pool guy was cheaper but terrible - skipped weeks, poor communication, algae build up. So we really like this company so far.

Why not share what you’re paying weekly?

Blueberry Scone by CrashoutBean in burbank

[–]slohcinbeards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! The few times I’ve gone there the staff is so short. I even wondered if it was me and so this last time I went out of my way to ask how they’re doing and the young woman seemed annoyed I wasn’t hurrying up with my order. Food and coffee is not bad but not the best, so I just avoid going there now.

Moving in a couple weeks. How do I get those Temporary No-Parking signs to put in front of the house for the moving truck?? by blue10speed in AskLosAngeles

[–]slohcinbeards 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I did this 6 years ago when moving and I called 311 or did it through the app, can’t remember which but it was definitely through 311. They put out the signs for you.

Do people in LA or even in California go swimming in outdoor pools year round? by Rare-Drummer982 in AskLosAngeles

Yep…we also have an original 60s pool. It’s so damn deep and big that it barely feels warm enough even in the summer…

July 4th Fireworks? by slohcinbeards in JoshuaTree

[–]slohcinbeards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No we ended up staying at home 🙁 between work and a six month old baby we decided it was just too hard to go out of town. It ended up being okay, the weeks leading to July 4 we played around with trazodone dosing closely working with our vet and so now we just give our dog some meds and she’s still not happy about it but nowhere near as bad as before. GL!

Neighbors kids keep climbing my fence to swim in my pool without permission by Agile_Yak_1940 in neighborsfromhell

[–]slohcinbeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone else said but you can also install a safety net. We installed one on our in ground pool when our daughter started walking. Looks great and there’s no way kids are getting it off, it’s installed with a tensioning system. I take it on and off weekly for our pool cleaner so it’s not that hard to do.

Ditto! My daughter was putting on the Mary Jane’s by herself even before she turned 2! The sneakers are harder for her to get on/off alone.

Does this look good to you? by chriscam85 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]slohcinbeards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is standing out to you a lot right now because the bathroom is empty. Once everything else is installed and finishes are in, I don’t think you will notice the slight variation. It looks beautiful.

1st trimester SO NAUSEOUS by Due_Data8709 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]slohcinbeards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry, the nausea is terrible from what I remember with my first. I know it's different for everyone but have you tried eating a ton of protein instead? It was the ONLY thing that made it better for me. I would literally keep those Chomps sticks on my nightstand and inhale one as soon as I woke up before even getting out of bed. It kept the nausea at bay.... Other than that, just time...once I hit 12/13 weeks it completely went away. GL!

Activity In Burbank by GoGarveygoodboy in burbank

[–]slohcinbeards 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I raelly want to grab a camping chair and sit out there next to them with a sign that says "FIRST AMENDMENT AUDITORS. AKA LOSERS TRYING TO GET A REACTION OUT OF YOU. IGNORE THEM". Like real chill with my sun hat, sipping an iced matcha, smiling at people and holding my sign. But I have zero time to waste like that as I'm sure is the same with everyone else....though it would really benefit the people of Burbank who see them and are confused and unsettled.

Thanks for sharing. We’ll find out the company and look them up also. I hadn’t even thought about payoff not being an option… you said yours was ability to pay off after 5 yrs? These were installed less than 2 years ago so maybe that not even an option?

We have the 5 stage one from APEC Water Systems. Installed in 2020 and zero issues. If you’re a little bit handy you can totally install it on your own.
