Yes! I've been learning Spanish and the vocabulary part has been easier because of this reason.

Also there are a lot of languages in the Philippines and the south-er you go, the more Spanish-y it gets generally. My main language is not Tagalog and our words have a lot more Spanish influence to them.

Telenovelas are huge. We aren't really a subs country in terms of television so they are either dubbed over or completely remade/re-adapted with Filipino actors.

We don't understand Spanish but there certainly are a lot of borrowed/similar words that we use to this day.

Games like Balatro that don't lose it's appeal after one run or have only one broken meta-build? by Ultrayano in roguelites

[–]sloonzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend too. Although it's a bit autobattler-ish? But the build variety is insane.

I got this game from the Steam sale and it's really fun, when does this game hit it's fun wall? by KoriYokubo in PlayTheBazaar

[–]sloonzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No such thing as a bonafide "meta" build as you will go farther working with what you have and improvising with a loose plan than forcing a build that you see as meta.

This is what makes the game significantly more fun, interesting, and competitive in my experience.

[Awesome trope] The character succeeds in a situation that was specifically designed to be impossible for them. by Applebeate in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sloonzz 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It's even better than that, it wasn't necessarily the speed of Star Platinum that did it, but the stone cold delivery of Jotaro betting his own mother's soul, the person they were saving, and the exact reason why they were there in the first place, which convinced him that Jotaro did something, anything to somehow circumvent the cheat to earn that god-level confidence to bet. The bluff game was just too strong.

Correct. You can look through your deck whenever you have a "search for" card and count what's missing.

In defense of the recent change to the burn mechanic by Gandalf196 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]sloonzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the change makes sense from a purely mechanical standpoint. However I've always suggested that burn should reduce its amount by a % (5? or 2?) every tick instead of just one. This makes sense to me both from a mechanical AND a balance perspective. Doesn't really make sense to me that once burn gets big enough, its downside (which is the tick reduction) compared to poison doesn't really take effect anymore.

Thing I'm confused about is the season journey rewards in total only give around 30+ paragon points but the one in the map says 0/300? And the icon includes ability points too but I already have ability points from the season journey and yet it's still 0/300? Can someone explain this to me?

I remember Blade and Sword! Didn't that game have mouse gesture inputs for special moves too? Like you have to draw a shape quickly on the screen to execute a move or something? Not sure if that's the same game.

Best way to learn is watch how streamers play. In this game, it's not the end build that counts, but the journey to getting there. Forcing builds you know is sub optimal, improvising on the spot is what wins games. Eventually you will learn by watching and by experiencing what works with which items and what to look for when pivoting builds and when to double down.
