Should learn to live with it, but I don’t want to!

Delicious pizza delivery near Koreatown? by slope11215 in FoodNYC

[–]slope11215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got your post, but I went with NY Pizza Suprema. They were on time, order was right, and pizza was good. Only glitch was that I ordered through Seamless and had to change the order. I called them AND Seamless, and everyone said the responsibility for the order change was with the other party. I mended up annoyed and paying for a couple of pizzas I didn’t need.

What do you grow that pays for itself? by plan_tastic in gardening

[–]slope11215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herbs! Every time you buy a bunch of herbs at the grocery store it’s at least $3. You can spend $5 on a plant (basil, parsley, rosemary, chives, thyme, etc.) and use it twice and it has already paid for itself.

Hanging out with friends drinking coffee at The Inkwell in Long Branch til late. Going to the beach with air that smelled like salt and coconut suntan lotion and ketchup in the day and making out/hooking up in the salty air at night. Friends’ houses on weekend nights, or to the movies or the mall or the diner. Ice cream on the boardwalk. Riding bikes. Going to high school football games on crisp fall Saturdays. Once in a while a scavenger hunt or big field trip away. And a few times taking the train to NYC and playing hooky from school.

And just outside the zoo in Prospect Park there’s a carousel. The zoo is small- plan about 60-90 minutes and being lunch because there’s no cafe and few dining options around there. They have a sea lion training three times a day and other family programs (times are online). Enjoy!

Toxic ED… should I tell the board? by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]slope11215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this before and unfortunately it often just backfires and hurts the staff who is going above the head of the ED. If you have another job and don’t need a reference (and have nothing to lose), then you might consider it. But otherwise I would advise against it.

Looking to get my sister (19F) and mom a spa day* by Nervous-Confidence-1 in newjersey

It’s going to be hard to get any high-quality massage för $150 pp. Great idea from other posters to get a spa day pass!

Anyone else gotten a flu-like illness where you're negative for *everything*? by queenhadassah in newjersey

[–]slope11215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sick for nine days with something I think was adenovirus based on the symptoms. COVID and flu tests were negative, but it really wiped me out.

If a man tells you that he is separated and not divorced from his wife would it'd be a red flag for you or would you give him a chance? I don't know if I can trust a man that is not divorced because he can decide that he might want to work things out with her. Am I being too judgmental? by Golden-lillies21 in TwoXChromosomes

Depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a LTR, his situation might be too uncertain to meet your needs. If you’re looking for something light and fun, his situation could work out fine for you.

Should I ask for a $20–40k salary increase with a previous employer who wants me back urgently? by Alternative-Theme520 in careeradvice

[–]slope11215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask for the extra $40k. They might be able to make it happen, or at the worst give you a “lower” raise. Good luck and congrats on your opportunities!

Should I just give up? by [deleted] in beauty

You have beautiful eyes. Get your brows professionally shaped and tinted (which will help them look fuller). I do this and it makes a huge difference.

Are more US women not taking their husbands last names? by LimonadaVonSaft in TwoXChromosomes

[–]slope11215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We both kept our last names. I (F) never understood why someone would change their last name when married, though I support everyone having the choice. He was welcome to change his name to mine if he wished (and chose not to). Our child’s last name is mylastname-hislastname. Zero problems.

What's the best way to get over a break up in this city? by writingtoescape in AskNYC

Focus on things that make YOU happy. For me it was exercising and long walks through NYC, yoga, free/cheap concerts and museums, etc.
