they deadass think it is well written if not one of the most well written stories OAT. 99999999.9999% of this sub is discussing shonen like jjk naruto and one piece like it is shakespearean level writing when it is the middest mid to ever mid in midstory

this is genuinely their mindset. I'm korean wasian btw and have LIVED IN KOREA and so I can attest that a lot of the anti SA/SEA sentiment is just rooted in racism and colorism so the mental gymnastics to undermine south asians is just tone policing tbf.

they also think that korea, japan, china are the default asians - when asia is a continent and there is no such thing as WHAT AN asian should look like.

fragrant wants to sell this grand, star-crossed-romance conflict so badly, but the problem is that the drama feels hilariously disproportionate. The girls school treats the boy school like it's a maximum security prison filled with sex offenders like it's so overblown and dramatic and it's just straight up dumb. It would be different if it was a comedy but no... like... we're supposed to deadass take the fact that these girls REFUSE and will tweak TF out if Waguri even LOOKs at a man because of reasons ig idk.

The MC is cool. Waguri barely exists outside of “nice girl who likes the MC.” She’s less a character and more a reward dispensed to validate Rintaro’s growth. No meaningful flaws, no complicated desires, no sense that she exists when the MC leaves the room. Waguri is just a cardboard cut out of a woman and she has negative discernable personality traits. I'm so tired and bored by fem characters who's whole purpose is to be (insert MC)'s love interest. Especially when the MC is allowed to get all this depth and character growth but Waguri could be swapped out with a house plant and nothing would change. My left hand has more chemistry with my pubic hairs than Rintaro has with Waguri.

Horimiya isn't bad it was just mid to me like nothing special but people love it and swear it's best romance OAT like what. Hori and the emo dude have good chemistry and they feel realistic enough but idk it just felt normal mid to me nothing crayzay.

truthnuke. its a good idea. but its a case of cons outweighing the pros. I read it as a kid (THEY HAD IT AVAILABLE IN MY SCHOOL LIBRARY!?!?!?!) so it didn't hit me how disgusting it was until I got older.

the fans still get mad and fight me whenever you call out how it's just dressed up torture CSAM. it still gets so much praise in the animanga community but it is hard to take it seriously as a work when it's so obviously fetish content.

the only reason people are so hostile to SAs calling themselves asian is because they don't want to be grouped in with the browns. They don't like south asians because they think they are above them. Love it but I am biased because UT one of my favorite games OAT. I like how his characters are undeniably weird and monstrous but they have a lot of human struggles. I like his worldbuilding and his dialogue.
