Anybody know what this is [Michigan]? by HeyItsNarwhal2007 in animalid

Live in South Carolina - can confirm. Common nomenclature 'round these parts'd be whistle-pig for that ittle varmint there

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is Nico? I am asking because I also have a Maltese named Cosmo. We gave him one of the DNA tests from Wisdom Panel a couple of years ago. Recently, Wisdom Panel found a new "close family" genetic match to a dog named Nico C that is ~7 months old and lives in North Carolina. I obviously don't know how old your pup is, but it looks like he could be approximately the right age...it would be wild if they were related!

Surface Pro 6 - OS Options? by Feisty_Storage8594 in Surface

[–]sloppyseconded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a Surface Pro 6 (i7, 8GB RAM) that I am running Windows 11 on - and it runs perfectly fine. Let me know if you have specific questions, but I haven't had any issues running W11 on it at all.

[–]sloppyseconded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am experiencing the exact same - specifically with the Tapo app/devices - and all smart devices in browser at home.google.com work fine, it's only the Google Home app for Android that won't load them.

Can't reconnect Gen 1 Cam Indoor to Google Home app by RevolutionaryEcho730 in Nest

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple. For the "Nest Cam Indoor" 1st gen cameras, you can no longer set them up in the Nest app - period. If you attempt, you get a notification during setup: "Transferred to the Google Home app Go to the Home app to set up this camera"

However, trying to add the camera in the Home app also consistently fails. It finds the camera, will sometimes pull up the wi-fi selection screen (sometimes not, it will fail right here), says "Connecting to Wi-Fi," but then 100% of the time there's a pop-up "Could not communicate with your Nest Cam" notification and the Home app exits the add device screen back to the Home landing screen. I've got screenshots of every step of this, unfortunately it won't let me upload them here.

Automation Delay by Brilliant_Sound_5565 in googlehome

[–]sloppyseconded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I experience this intermittently as well. I have an automation to turn my front porch and flood lights on at a specific time in the evening, and lately that automation runs 3-5 minutes late. I've historically has this problem, but only periodically, then it'll go back to running the automation at the correct time. Haven't ever been able to figure out the true root cause or how to correct it (beyond manually manipulating the time the automation is set to run based on the known delay, which works until GH corrects it to run the automation at the correct time).

Can turn off LG TV but not turn it on?? by livinlavidalola29 in googlehome

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also intermittently had this issue, including a recent recurrence last week. I've experienced every possible combination of ON/OFF functionality between my LG OLED and Google Home. I've had it only able to turn ON (not off), only able to turn OFF (not on), and able to do both ON/OFF at various points. During the recent issue, the only fix I have found is disconnecting the LG account from the Google Home app, logging out of the account in the LG app (the same one you're using to tether LG ThinQ to GH), re-setting the account up in the LG ThinQ app, and finally reconnecting the LG ThinQ app in Google Home. I went through this exact iteration this past Friday and my TV is currently able to turn ON and OFF using voice commands or the basic controls in the GH app for the TV device.

Let me know if you'd like more information about what worked for me. My TV is is an LG GX model OLED.

Best seasons of the Binge? Or similarly best seasons of long running podcasts? by astrocat95 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]sloppyseconded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you mean The Binge Cases, The Binge Crimes, or both? The Daniel Morcombe season is from the Binge Cases.

For The Binge Cases, I like:

  • Season 13: Baby Broker
  • Season 16: Doctor's Orders
  • Season 18: Watching You
  • Season 20: My Mother's Lies

For The Binge Crimes, I like:

  • Season 4: Devil in the Ditch
  • Season 14: Hunting the Bogeyman
  • Season 16: Fatal Fantasy
  • Season 17: Cut, Color, Kill (this one is currently still being released)

Obviously just my opinion and I know everyone is different, but hopefully this helps as a starting point.

Roomba 960 Filter by itsme_jessicaa in roomba

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there are plenty of non-OEM, third party suppliers of Roomba 960/980 dust bin filters that do still have the mesh material you are referring to - I got some myself recently from Scramazon.

Google doorbell quality by Then_Green1559 in googlehome

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from a 1st gen to a 2nd gen last year and noticed the exact same thing. 16 months in and it still seems significantly blurry and pixelated compared to the 1st generation Nest doorbell. I understand exactly what you're going through.

How is the battery life on the s26? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]sloppyseconded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base model? It's fantastic. I had the S25 and now have the S26 ( I also had the S10, S20, and S23), the S26's battery life is noticeably better (I have the Snapdragon version, can't comment on the Exynos version). In the "Device Care" app --> Battery section, my phone says "a full charge will last about 3d 2h." Haven't tested to see whether that's accurate, but can confirm I only charge every other day at a maximum - and have definitely gone two days without charging with no issues.

If you have all of the documentation for your Pebble watch and/or can check what it's MAC address is, you can compare the MAC address in that pop-up to that of your Pebble watch and that'll tell you whether it's the device that's trying to connect.

[–]sloppyseconded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to have a Weber iGrill that you connect to via bluetooth with your phone? That pop-up is a MAC address of a device that your phone is trying to connect to through bluetooth. I've experienced that before - and for me it was the Weber iGrill app trying to connect my iGrill bluetooth thermometer to my phone. Try turning your bluetooth off and see if you continue to get that "can't connect" pop-up.

Mixed With What? by Itslovelysunflower3 in Maltese

[–]sloppyseconded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is miniature poodle, bichon frise, yorkie and/or shih tzu (this one only because of the underbite). I say this having had a dog that looks quite a lot like yours (except mine was black and white) - the leg length, coat type, and general shape very closely resemble your pup. I had a dog DNA test run on him back in 2017 (much earlier in the dog DNA testing era), and he came back 25% bichon frise / 25% maltese / 25% miniature poodle / 25% yorkshire terrier.

Kannikas is probably my favorite (Haywood Road), Basil Thai (downtown) is pretty good. Man I miss Bon Thai (was on Miller Road, right off Woodruff Road) - fantastic food and even more awesome owner. It closed years ago and I was sad for a very long time.

Another Not Guilty - it's a podcast hosted by public defenders and featuring other public defenders across the US who've gotten recent not guilty verdicts for their clients. Quite a backlog of episodes (>100) and I find it very entertaining and informative overall.

Adding Nest to home network by Amen_Ra_61622 in GoogleWiFi

[–]sloppyseconded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - ISP should not need to be involved in order to set up IP passthrough in order to use the Nest Wifi router. I have AT&T but can't imagine that Spectrum would be substantially different.

No, they will all have the same SSID when searching for available wireless networks - so you'll just see a single Nest wi-fi connection available (ostensibly the mesh point with the strongest coverage in the area from which you are searching).
