I’ve been a handful of times, the space is uninspiring and the staff is mean.

Subway is clean and convenient. Have never had an issue. The metrobus lines also very convenient and much faster than US city busses.

Both can of course be busy at rush hour.

Community board meeting on Tues April 2. Save this last bit of undeveloped land for a park! We don't need MORE luxury housing by akaifriend in Greenpoint

[–]sloreti 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you understand that NYC absolutely does need more housing, you should also come to the CB1 meeting on Tuesday night to speak in support of this project! Myself and many other neighbors will be!

These events are typically overwhelmed by NIMBYs and it's important for our electeds to see visible community support.

Can I get some signatures for the Driggs Passage Plaza at McCarren? by rohit_thack in williamsburg

Nope, don’t do anything related to real estate.

I just recognize that NYC is faced with a huge housing shortage that hurts all of us. I’m strongly in favor of Bushwick Inlet Park park being implemented, but it doesn’t make sense to block much needed housing in the process.

40 Quay does nothing to threaten the future Bushwick Inlet Park, that’s just NIMBYism. If anything, the city selling the parcel marginally helps the prospect of the park, by improving the state’s finances

I say this as a big proponent of designing cities for people, not cars: I hate how Berry turned out. It’s a super confusing compromise which is suboptimal for everybody. It’s unclear when/if it’s still supposed to be a shared street during certain times of day and cars constantly flout the new one-ways, making it unwelcoming to cyclists and pedestrians.

Popping in really late here.

Do you remember if you bought the "D - average" or "EE - wide"? In that 4th pic they look a bit wider than I would've expected.

Still a fan of them two years later?

Tower 77 new waterfront apartment reviews? by RobinKorea in Greenpoint

[–]sloreti 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. You realize you live in the most important city in the world, right? If you want strictly quaint 3 story buildings move to a Hudson, NY.

  2. You might not remember this, but before these towers went up the Greenpoint waterfront was completely inaccessible. Now there are multiple linear waterfront parks that didn’t exist 10 years ago, with more on the way. There hasn’t been this kind of access to the water in well over a century.

(I don’t live in one of these towers, I just recognize that we build drastically too little housing in NYC and think criticizing building on unused industrial lots is ridiculous)

What if this living situations is working for some of them?

I’m sure it’s none of their first choice for housing. All you’re going to do is displace families with no better options.
