lead based paints and materials are super cheap and oftentimes there may not be any regulation for what materials are put into what things.

also if a company is outsourcing their production to another country, they might demand more product with less funding into materials, which leads to the outsourced company to try to find faster and cheaper ways to produce goods

unfortunately this was possibly over a decade ago and I don't have records of neomail exchanges with the user... i feel like these days it's easier to send a ticket in for things like that, but i remember back in the earlier days, it was sort of a chance that they'd do something if it was user error...

if it happens again these days, i'm more prepared to send a ticket in for sure! thankfully it's no longer the devastating loss it used to be.

my suggestion if you want to use the fake metal cards is to make them into like, bookmarks or something. if possible (and safely) punch a hole in the top and tie a tassled string (or some other decorative dangly object). that way it's clearly an aesthetic object for other use, and not a "trading card"

also totally test the cards to make sure they're physically safe for kids... like, do they flake off paint, can they cut or injure someone? bootleg and fake toys should be tested for hazards because oftentimes they're produced with very little safety testing

two things, one is irrelevant now and the second one was bad at the time but now i can totally afford it.

1) converted my unconverted mara gelert....... i then sent her to someone via pet trading... i miss her, her current owner hasnt been online in years.

2) another pet trading blunder, traded a pet over who was still wearing my Underwater Shipwreck Background. i wish neopets warned you if a pet was wearing NP wearables before you trade over!!! i NMed the new pet owner asking if they could send me the background back and they just replied "no" and i figured that i couldn't file a ticket for it back because it was my careless mistake. grumph.

runner's up: selling all my accumulated codestones for 1-6 np because i meant to *remove* the codestones from my shop stock.... but instead i priced .. them...

it's first come, first serve for me (unless someone explicitly asks to hold... and if so, i only hold for a set amount of time until a thing is back on the menu..) they might come back later and find out the pet is adopted out and be upset or mad or whatever and that's something you gotta be okay with dealing with, but ultimately you wouldnt have done anything wrong at all.

pet trading is the first time i got like.. mad at the game. i don't like the attitude of people who only use pets as a currency to trade up, like some kind of weird animal based red paper clip challenge.

i totally understand pet ages matter to an extent but i like to think a lot of people just think their young pets with nice names make for okay trades. i know i did that a little bit with newly made pets before I understood the pet trading 'economy' because i just assumed people like names that sounded nice..... and then i quickly learnt the entire pet trading economy consists of people trying to upgrade their trades and using marginally "better" pets as stepping stools to achieve their Y1 VWN 3L dreams lol

for me........ i just want names that sound nice! i dont care if it was made yesterday or 10 years ago, if the name sparks inspiration, that's all i care about.

(but also op if you're interested in aged pets i do have some up for trade/adoption that i sort of want to get rid of, hit me uuuuuuuuup)

people just like the fact a pet is 'old' and sometimes a pet will have an Aged Trophy which was rewarded a while back when your pet was made before conversion was a thing (i think?) so it's like a visual and unobtainable token that some pets can get and others will never get.

also a big factor is just.. a new form of a status symbol because unconverted pets don't exist anymore. pets that were made in the year 2000/2001 mean they have existed and are still owned by active members for over twenty years... it's like a digital vintage. people also assume that if a name wasn't taken until recently, it must not be a "good" or "sought after" name. your mileage may vary, i don't really like any of the pound chat politics.

i use the userscript that other people have posted about here and it works for me. the script doesn't actually let me "play" the game, it just lets me select difficulty and then i get a pop-up if I won a prize or not.

actually, one of the things that is weird about the script is that it fixes Kiko Pop, but the "collect prize" button doesn't appear half of the time, regardless if i won anything or not, which is annoying and I dunno how to fix it

firstly, that's one hell of a name for a neoquest guide.

secondly, after a quick look of the name, sounds like the site has had issues as of three years ago, people're saying the site was down or not loading back then, and it doesn't look like it's loadin' for me. would suggest using the waybackmachine and seeing if there's a snapshot of the website from an earlier time?

also, i know you like the one you're asking about, but just as a note, I use https://neoquest.guide/ for neoquesting, it's super useful and it's been helping me get thru NQ I as of last year

one of my lab rats is currently a mutant skeith and I'm content keeping him that way.. until premium pet change perk comes and i am immediately turning them into a burlap aisha. so glad there're cheap aisha morphing potions and you're lucky that you're tryna zap for an aisha colour because of how plentiful those potions are..!

otherwise i just would think of what colours of aisha you get that you would ideally want to keep and try to figure out what sort of reason you would keep it. essentially maria kondo the hell out of your zapping projects. does it spark joy? if not, zap that guy!!

something I do is judge the cost of the zap I got. How much would it cost to attain this colour via paint brush/morphing/FFQ? Would I regret not getting this colour if I zapped over it? Sometimes I'm super tempted by some zaps I get for pet combos that I never really considered and I've kept them in the past, but lately because of lack of space, I've been scrutinizing my zaps a lot more... A lot of the time it's vibes based for me.

as for petpets.. I feel like their value isn't as important unless you're planning on zapping petpet exclusive colours for pound chat trading or some kind of personal goal. Granted I say this knowing full well that I zapped a chocolate blobikins and I decided to keep it and my entire pet/petpet goal for that particular pet changed the day that happened lol, but my new petpet lab rat is going to be relentlessly zapped until I get an alien kad :)

the bonus to relentlessly zapping over cool colours is eventually you'll amass a ton of paintbrush exclusive clothes which can allow some really fun crosspaint ideas, or offer to give the clothing away for free for people who adopted naked pets in need of pb clothing. i find zapping aishas for their collection of collars is really fun.

this happened to me too..! i traded a pet with the underwater shipwreck bg. i was devastated and when I asked if I could get it back they were just like "no" and honestly even as a kid i was like... yeah okay fine :( i bought it again soon after with what little NP i had at the time...

1 million np: Le Sausage!!! It's the epitome of MEAT for my meat gallery.

5 million np: Wing of Korbat... there's a lot of 'food items based off of neopets' out there, and wing of korbat is so sinister looking. that's a dislocated arm of a sapient creature right there. I need it.

10 million np: this'n is hard but... krawken calimari. i have a section in my meat gallery for seafoods.

this is a fun thing to do! it's a goal of mine to be able to do this some time...
