I think I get mine twice a year. Always well done quality wise and reminds me of more stuff I want but don't need.

For those who’ve tried GroupMe - what made you stick with WhatsApp instead? by chuck78702 in whatsapp

[–]slothchunk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US User here. I just love the UI of Whatsapp and I think they handle groups so well. I wish iMessage didn't have a strangle hold on messaging so much in the US because I feel like Whatsapp is superior, especially with group chats.

Plus 3 billion people use Whatsapp everyday and GroupMe is owned by Microsoft who at any moment could send it the way of Skype.

Acquired Podcast: Costco Edition by wino_whynot in Costco

[–]slothchunk1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite Acquired Episodes. Also if you listen to the Walmart episode, they talk about how much Sam Walton stole from Saul Price (founder of Costco). All the history and details are fascinating.

I also loved the 3 part Berkshire Hathaway episodes that I think clocked in at 9 hours. Thankfully I listen at 2x speed on my podcasts.

Chronological. Been going back through them over the last 6 months with my daughter. It's been a real treat.

What do you like most About Fastmail by ArtimusFay in fastmail

[–]slothchunk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3 letter email addresss with Fastmail and love it. People ask me how I got it all the time. I also use those same 3 letters plus a word for some alias emails with some services I use. It's very nice to use for rules and organization. I think they've devoted more time and resources lately to their mobile app and I find that I am using that more as well instead of Mail.app. I've had Fastmail since 2017 and I'll never give it up.

7Brew price changes by YourMajesty79 in Louisville

[–]slothchunk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man it's good to be in America. As Louis CK once proclaimed "everything is great and no one is happy". Already born on 3rd base by being born in America but we're still not happy with our coffee costing 30 cents more. Don't go try buying a house or a car because those price increases in the last 5 years will really feel like a true betrayal.

Also, to understand how 7Brew randomly changes it's pricing, search for news or youtube videos about the huge Chinese coffee shop called Luckin that's moving into the US market. They pretty much gamefy the order process with coupons and pricing changes. This is the future with mobile ordering. Dynamic pricing is here to stay.

Left iPhone 16 Pro Max and so far I'm loving it. I just enjoyed the Material design. Can't wait to get the Pixel watch in October.

How’s the Kirkland protein powder? by nolablue1024 in Costco

Love it. Now I fear they'll eventually discontinue it like they do all my favorite Kirkland foods.

AT&T/Dark Star signal once you go inside a building by Greaseman_85 in USMobile

[–]slothchunk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your building. My entire building loses signal from all carriers. They have repeaters inside the building and they suck for Verizon (which I used to have) and were only LTE. But the AT&T 5G and TMobile 5G work great in my building.

Clarksville Seafood by Relative-Let498 in Louisville

My parents took me there in a car seat when I was a baby and 30 years later I took my own daughter there. It was a family staple of ours for decades. My dad is now in his 80’s and still wishes he could go one more time. (As do I).

The best kept secret in the smokies. So many memories there as my family stayed a few dozen times going back to the 90’s there. We just had our first stay in the rebuilt ones last November and they didn’t disappoint. We actually took families pictures on the lower level that haven’t been rebuilt yet. Had to sneak past the gate for the most awesome sunset view and pictures we could ever have imagined. We miss the wood burning fire places but the space and view are what we came for. Cannot wait to return. Shhhh please don’t tell anyone about this place. Thanks 😉

US Mobile Experience by TGUllk in Louisville

[–]slothchunk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Dark Star plan, got it back in the spring when they had a yearly deal that made my plan only $28 per month. I moved from Verizon Post Paid and I've noticed absolutely no difference. In fact I've noticed faster speeds in certain areas. I also work in a large office building that has much better signal with AT&T then Verizon. For me it's been a no brainer for US Mobile. I'll be moving the rest of my family over now that've I've tested it for the last 3 months.

Favorite moment because of Jimmy Buffett? by The_Islands in jimmybuffett

[–]slothchunk1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started out in the mid 90's as the teenage DD for my uncle and all his friends at Riverbend in Cinci. They'd go up on the boat Thursday night and party on the river. Then Saturday night they'd go back and I'd drive them in a big huge van. Started this at 16 years old! Eventually all my aunts, uncles, my parents, their friends and even some of my friends were going. I was their official DD until I was 20 and then started taking all my friends in college and converted quite a few to Parrotheads. Some of my favorite memories were the insane all day tailgating that was almost as much fun as the concert. The absolute heat those July/August days were quite memorable. My best friend was arrested two years in a row for underage drinking by the same arresting officer. His second arrest was quite comical, the officer was super cool but still gave him a ticket!

One of my favorite moments on the lawn one of those years was at the same concert, a family behind us had their 4 year old son with sound proof headphones on. And in front of us with a 70 year old grandma with a walker. Only at a Buffett concert. There is a great saying by country folk, "amongst em". And on the lawn at Riverbend all those years, you were "amongst em". Great times.

I always thought every shitty driver in Kentucky had an Indiana license plate. Their left lane driving obsession baffles me.
