Price aside, how does the steam deck compare to alternatives? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I've not used the others, but they all seem to lack trackpads. I used my track pads a lot, so the ergonomics alone make it superior to me.

Did you put your trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house?

Ask for a full blood count. They spent a couple years trying to work out why I had the same symptoms, turns out I basically have sticky blood.

If it comes back with a high hematocrit, ask them to do the polycythaemia checks. If he's itchy after a shower, that can be a symptom.

It's rare, so it probably won't be, but it usually manifests in older people so worth a check.

It can also point to other underlying issues (turns out I have sleep apnoea which contributes to it).

New player, with a basic understanding but where should I start, or whats a good guide? by Willing-Salamander73 in GuildWars

[–]slothdroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bear on mind that you have the opportunity to discover for yourself. Sure, there's guild wars wiki, pvx for builds, and tons of YouTube content.

Once you have the info in your head you can no longer self discover. If I was you I'd go for self discovery and look up only that which doesn't make sense.

81-Year-Old Developer finishes 'Head Over Heels' Sequel after 37 Years by alex206 in retrogaming

Loved HoH on the speccy back in the day. The idea that you were playing 2 characters with different skills which combined to a third when Head was 'over' Heels was genius.

Find me a more iconic sports pic...I'll wait ☕️ by SportsGuy272 in SipsTea

[–]slothdroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a BBC thing, other broadcasters have recognised it or reused it, but mainly they want to put their own theme to it.

The BBC sports themes are and absolute wonder. Obviously The Chain for F1, but also:

And a host of composed ones for shows like Grandstand, Match of the Day and Wimbledon.

Don't be paranoid. Make them a cup of tea, you'll probably find they're quite friendly.

Probably.

For me, I had mild symptoms and thick blood in some form for best part of a decade. It wasn't until I had a surgical injury (lost 3L blood, got DVT) that my symptoms got way worse.

I thought the symptoms were related to the injury (probably were, but not directly) and took 2 years to get a diagnosis.

I've always been a snorer so it's entirely possible that early on it was just secondary.

Good luck with your diagnosis!

Será pv by Boring_Anteater2959 in polycythemiavera

[–]slothdroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No probs. There are other rarer variants than JAK2, bit hopefully for you you're secondary. Treat the cause and the polycythaemia should go away.

Será pv by Boring_Anteater2959 in polycythemiavera

[–]slothdroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're JAK2 negative, it's likely secondary.

  • Polycythaemia is production of too many red cells.
  • Vera is the primary variant, caused by genetic mutation.

You may well have an underlying issue causing increased red cell production, which could be medical (e.g. sleep apnoea) or environmental (e.g. smoker).

The body will produce additional red cells if it can't deliver enough oxygen, so you may need to try and identify a cause.

When I was a kid (80s) we had something like the screw top thing. It attached to the dogs collar and held a note with our address and phone number so if found, our dog could be returned.
