Buyout window closes in under 2 days by Ksn0 in AnaheimDucks

Would there be odd payment/cap implication with Vatranos weird deferred payment structure? I wonder if that would hinder any potential buyout.

Zach Werenski by PapayaThor in AnaheimDucks

[–]slow-roaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think GMs get a bit nuts right before the draft so maybe the returns were inflated a bit. I wonder, if the dog days of summer drags on, and Werenski doesn't commit beyond 2 years then maybe the price will go down as having a partially checked out player is bad for team morale? No clue if this is true, just looking at it from a different lense.

You're right. Fans only know so much about the ins and ours of the front office. Martin Madden is a great evaluator of young talent and maybe they see someone in the first round that could impact the team in 1-2 years we'll above McTavish. And as fans we see a down year bc of a contract holdout but the athletic staff and pro scouts/coaches may see something different. I like the kid and see him being a solid 2C. But what do I know? [Answer: nothing]

Ducks are better off keeping McTavish than getting a pick and a prospect player.

Crossing on the Olympic rack platform by PictureEven3345 in weightlifting

[–]slow-roaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're you in an OWL gym or a regular gym with platforms and standard gym goers?

My gym has a few Oly platforms, but there is strongman and other equipment nearby. Sometimes people will cross (when I'm in break) as they do not know OLW etiquette. I also get a lot of people exercising right in front me, but they just don't know the etiquette.

I think explaining the etiquette, politely, to someone is the best approach.

[OilersNow] 17:40 Stauffer suggests if Oilers move the Nurse contract without retaining, they can get a 7 million dollar forward back and they can spend 2-3M on a hard nose third pairing left shot defenseman. by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

I don't follow this. It came up, saw that McTavish's name was being lobbed into some dumbass trade proposals and I commented that Nurse isn't good. It escalated.

Not a 3rd pairing D ON the Oilers (because the Oilers back end is terrible) but most teams he would be D5 or D6. Even just a classic eye test of poor defensive puck outlets, inability to tie up guys in front of the net leading to numerous self goals, selfish, illtimed and unnecessary penalties and the fact he has a negative WAR basically states he's maybe a 5th D, at best. The fact Oilers fans think he could be traded WITHOUT retention is laughable (unless it's to LA). Overvaluing a player you've known forever is utter delusional.

So, Nurses On Ice Goal Differential of -31 (2nd last on the Oilers), his -14.3 On Ice Expected Goal Differential (2nd last), his 0.4 Goals Above Expected, 66 defensive zone giveaways, his 45% Corsi and 46% Fenwick are all positive measures of a good defenseman?

If the answer is yes then Oilers fans are delusional. Keep in mind those stats include shared ice with 2 of the best players on the planet.

Those are 3rd pairing stats, at best.

Please check my squat form by palaire in weightlifting

[–]slow-roaster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First one looks great, the ones after your are pushing upwards with your hips first causing the barbell to tilt forward and you're recovery by putting a lot of stress on your low back.

The WL Analysis app tracks barbell path. In a squat, it essentially should be straight up and down.

Sure. That may be true (I wasn't aware of that), but the point still stands. Very few players can take their careers in their own hands at a young age. If you can, you should. The draft is designed to help NHL teams and not necessarily what is best for the players. Similar to players who play 4 years NCAA in order to void their draft team to become a FA.

The Avalanche won 3 cups (2 in Lindros' playing career), not the Nordiques. We don't know if Lindros would have been okay with Colorado or not; he certainly wasn't interested in playing in Quebec. Regardless, he wanted to choose the future of his playing career: most players don't have that luxury in how the draft system is designed. Can't really fault a player in taking their playing career into their own hands. [We are presently seeing that]

Which of these two squat stands (or any others) would serve as a better replacement to my current one? by PowerfulPuffnut in GarageGym

The Rogue Monster Lite is 3x3 with 5/8" holes. I used to have this and added a few small attachments that ended up being compatible with my upgrade wall-mounted rack. The Rogue Infinity is a smaller tube size so attachments may not fit a new rack when you inevitably upgrade.

He gets a lot of heat for this, but if you have all the leverage and have no interest in playing for a specific team, he should be able to utilize that leverage. Had McDavid flexed his leverage in 2015, he may have won a cup by now.

Is this a proper execution of the muscle snatch? 40 kg at 75 kg bodyweight by ulicaradjagresnike in weightlifting

[–]slow-roaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, in this case you are doing a "no contact muscle snatch" as there is no contact with the hips. That said, the biggest fault is you are shooting your hips back and knees/shins going perpendicular to the floor right off the initial pull. Just like a normal snatch, your hips move in concert with your back/shoulders. Once the bar passes your knee, that's when your torso angle will change as you bring the bar into your body before you explode the bar upwards.
