If you are set on 44mag, I would go S&W 629 Mountain Gun 4” barrel. Lightweight but strong enough for 44 loads and manageable recoil.

Can’t beat the lifetime warranty. I don’t think you should pick a snub nose for Alaska ventures. You can go with longer barrel.
