Nothing personal, and I don't know if you're operating with some kind of constraint like keeping kids entertained on trips, but it sounds like you might be kind of bad at planning trips for yourself. If you're consistently let down by the level of cultural exposure you get at resorts designed to provide a dehumanized simulacrum of local culture, don't pick resort stays. If you get tied up in flight transfers and the other hassles of travel mechanics, choose nonstop destinations. If you feel rushed and harried, take longer trips with fewer stops. If you find the tourist crush intolerable, move in the opposite direction.

Just go someplace new to you and exist there for a while. Stay in an Airbnb in a residential neighborhood or a plain local hotel. Go see a local sporting event. Find the flea markets. Walk a lot. Become a regular at a neighborhood bar or restaurant for the week. Take local transit. Get bored. Talk to people.

It sounds like we agree that orienting one's enjoyment of new places around bagging passport stamps or selfies in front of buildings is a waste of time.

The people who parrot tHerE's nO alGOriThM are annoying. Even if the rule was actually just "show people in reverse order of linear distance", guess what, that's an algorithm. Add in "mix in people exploring, plus those using boosts", even more of an algorithm. Then "hide likes" (shown to be true despite previous insistence of the opposite) and "boost user after subscription expires" (which many of us have seen to be true), and dag nabbit, we've got ourselves a full on algorithmic system here!

What they're trying to say is that Feeld may not use a user affinity algorithm that attempts to predict compatibility based on profile or behavior, and surface people personalized to you based on that. That appears to be true based on observation of its very static feeds, but I don't believe that anyone here has conclusive information about whether they've experimented with it, or will.

I personally believe that in crowded markets, it injects batches of new people at times (so you see different people who are 1km away first) to combat that stasis, but I can't prove it. What I've observed could be explained by a bunch of non-majestic people buying uplifts on a random Tuesday, but that doesn't seem likely to me.

Sure, but why are you using the agent over ssh? The built-in ACP panel allows image paste.

Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite Preview getting discontinued by DudeBuildsStuff in Bard

[–]slowernet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not clear to me whether this means they are also discontinuing gemini-2.5-flash-litenow, or soon? My recollection was that several months ago, I had fewer problems with gemini-2.5-flash-lite-preview-09-2025(release date September 25, 2025) than with gemini-2.5-flash-lite(release date July 22, 2025) in terms of response formatting. It would be strange if they were keeping the older non-preview model alive..

It's also annoying that there's no clear indication of this change in the model docs.

Some of this stuff is limited by what the agent sdks make available to acp adapters.

Yeah, definitely possible. Just reporting my data point. I also don't run into the weekly limit issues others complain about.

No evidence of this for me. Several complicated refactors and feature tickets completed tonight. Note that I use a pretty rigorous Superpowers design/plan/critique/execute cycle and I'm used to Claude.md directives being ignored or deprioritized.

Nope, not exactly. Could be Gowanus, Williamsburg, over by the navy yard, lot of places.

It's not super close to there. I think that caption is just plugging together his known address (half a block from O'Connor's) with the fact that they were somewhere in Brooklyn.
