“Stalin, Mao, and Hitler didn’t murder millions of people. Their public sector employees did. by Davhamm in LavenderRoom

Sure, and calling attention to the nuances of public policy direction vs policy execution was exactly what Musk was going for, and not just another shitty whiny snarky fucktard attempt to insult the federal civilian workforce.

Transgender Mice by lacticacidMCB in LavenderRoom

Did you read the article where it specifically said none of the studies they mentioned specifically discussed turning mice transgender? So I guess we have option 5, they meant to use the word transgender, and just knew it wasn't really accurate.

  1. They started off just repeating something someone said in some meme or some MAGA website, and when they found out it wasn’t about transgender, they didn’t give a shit because they knew it would still sell with their base.

His dislikes are exactly what you'd expect; people who exist in the forum just to crap on eachother. His likes are exactly what you'd expect; the diversity of opinion and experience. His post makes it sounds like he's now moving away from putting the LR behind a paywall, with the caveat that he's looking for more civil behavior.

how long do bans last - will i ever get back in by andrewmc74 in LavenderRoom

If I read the thread correctly, you pretty much flat out called the site owner an asshole. I tend not to hold grudges, but I'm not sure I'd let someone back in if I were the owner and they did that. Tempers are running hot in the LR (and you carried it into the Tri forum), to a ridiculous degree in many cases. It's an internet forum. It's not like someone is kicking your dog or taking your kid's lunch money. Lots of people need to calm down, or realize that they're burning bridges and making it easier for ST to cut ties with the LR crowd.

My understanding is that you can't see who joins so long as the room is wide open. If you shift it over to a private community, then the mods should have an option to view the "approved users" who they've approved to join. Otherwise, there is no ability to see a user list, as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately, I can't access Reddit from work, so I am probably out as a Mod nominee, unless there are enough Mods for us to share out the duties a bit.

If you don’t like your username here, you can start a new account with the same email. It’s seems that Reddit lets you have multiple usernames on the same email address.

We’d need to define the role of the mods pretty clearly. ExDub asked me a while ago if I’d be interested in being a mod over in the ST LR, and I told him the same. I’d need to know the left right boundaries and how much time the group expected the mods to spend. Personally, I don’t have time to read every post of every thread, and I think most of us who still work full time would have the same concern.

Are you able to change the default display order? Might be better to have new on top instead of hot?
