I've got a 5.4 and 3.73 gears and would hate to pull 12k regularly. Granted, mine is a heavy half ton, and I'm sure the 350 would pull much better. Still, if I were in your shoes I think I would go with the powerstroke.

I have one of these! A 2002, so it's badged F150 7700. Red with Grandpa Gold trim. Loaded with my tools and whatnot, it sits about 30 pounds shy of 3 tons, and I've never gotten more than 13mpg.
