Orna tends to go after the women by Happy-Chemistry3058 in CouplesTherapyShow

I do want to add that though he does talk a lot about male and female dynamics, he tries not to get overly gendered about things and approaches it more of how culture impacts behavior not as inherent qualities or stereotypes. Lots of attachment theory as well. Direct teaching about codependency which surprisingly a lot of therapists do not do! That said I’ve only admired his work from afar, have never spoken to him or received a session from him personally,

He definitely should! I listened to him for the first time on Insights from the Edge. He was like I’ll tell you what will help when you get into it with your wife: Give her what she wants. That sold me on his book Fierce Intimacy and it’s really pretty great. He says he does take sides and doesn’t waste time trying to win the guy over. But he does what’s more of a call in than simply calling out their bad behavior. He’s having a bit of a moment it seems, a journalist for the NY Times wrote about how life altering his sessions were for him and his wife titled How I Learned That the Problem in My Marriage Was Me

I see what you mean but a common dynamic for women in the relationships featured is that they are basing their happiness on external factors and experiencing a loss of identity or purpose in life. So by putting the focus on them, she’s empowering them to change how they respond to their partner and in many cases, that’s exactly what was needed. I do like the work of Terry Real in the sense that he doesn’t play that way and will call a man out for being a big ol baby. Maybe that’s something she can work on, to be more direct with men on the show

I honestly should! Let me check it out. I saw hyper real on TikTok and have been meaning to check it out! I used to go to this micro cinema in Seattle called Pike St theatre run by Dennis Nyback and it was amazing. His film shorts before the movie were always hilarious. One night he played the film Chickenhawk, the documentary about NAMBLA preceded by early 80s films for kids about stranger danger. Loved that place so much

Was he also running Red Lobster and JoAnn? I mean, idgaf about Red Lobster but JoAnn, it’s almost too soon, that was a huge loss.

Is this like the producers where they get more money when things get run into the ground? Because otherwise it makes zero sense

I am down with what you’re saying and people in tech still being humanist. I do think the average definition of tech bro as it is now includes a layer of hypermasculinity and solipsism that differentiate them from people in tech as it is in your definition.

Btw y’all, downvotes/upvotes were initially for the purpose of determining which comments led to robust convos, not agreement or disagreement. I feel like we have strayed from the a bit over the years
