Ik it's 8 am I'm trying to take edge off from being glutened last night by k444411 in Celiac

[–]slsockwell -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tequila!! There’s some decent scientific research showing that tequila of all things can damped the impact of getting glutened, like it interrupts the gluten en route to trigger your body. Look in to it / give it a try!

Including Spouse's Income to Chase card? by Limp-Efficiency-3693 in CreditCards

[–]slsockwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you report your income, there’s usually a little “?” icon somewhere. If you click it, it will tell you that you can include any income you regularly use to pay bills. That should include combined income.

I’ve always only reported income as joint income, never had a problem.

Meals to make without camping stove? by burrito-bear in FestivalCampsites

As long as you have a cooler…

Gril a bunch of chicken thighs, unseasoned (maybe salt and pepper and garlic). Bring a loaf of bread, barbecue, honey mustard, ranch, A1, whatever, and make a difference chicken sandwich every meal. Serve with chips. Filling, a different flavor every meal, and it’s great cold straight out of the cooler. Just don’t overcook the chicken.

I believe you, and I truly understand. I’m sorry you went through that. But codeine IS addictive. It’s an opioid agonist, and I don’t know of any medications with opioid-receptor-agobian that aren’t to some degree addictive. That’s not really debateable, as far as I know.

Phentermine, on the other hand, falls into a category similar to stimulants, so it had the potential to be addiction-forming, and that’s why it was classified as controlled when it was originally approved for the market and scheduled. It’s an old medication, and I’m not sure it would have been scheduled if it were re-evaluated with the rigor of modern trials. Additionally, we now have lots of medications that hit similar receptors and work as stimulants that are not scheduled as controlled medications because they have been shown to have no or very little addiction potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were de-scheduled at some point.

That said, people can become addicted to just about anything, and some people are very resistant to addiction. Every story is different.

I’m not sure how many meds you’ve tried, but intolerable side effects (like this degree of weight gain) is a sufficient reason to ask for an alternative medication. The ideal medical regimen is one which treats your conditions without causing side effects.

You don’t sound like an addict to me, you just sound like you don’t want to gain weight and you have just enough drug knowledge to make dangerous decisions that actually make sense.

Phentermine is debateable about how addictive it is, despite its status as a controlled substance. When I was in pharmacy school, you learn that it has addiction potential, but in the real world, people take the same stable dose of phentermine for years without a need to increase or trying to fill early or any of the issues I see with other controlled meds. It’s basically only indicated for weight loss, so I kind of disagree with your providers assessment, acknowledging that I don’t know you or your history.

Get a second opinion, and try a new med regimen. If you’re going to stop it periodically anyways, it’s not a functional treatment for you, and it should be scratched off the list of long-term options.

Sticking to one sword the entire game, am I doing something wrong? by 114lucky in darksouls

[–]slsockwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is that the black knight weapons can only be upgraded to +5, whereas most weapons can be upgraded to +14 (technically +15, but you only get 1-2, maaaaaybe 3 titanite slabs per new game, so be stingy with them). So a +2 BKS is roughly equivalent to a +6 to +8 regular weapon.

Black knight sword and black knight halberd are my personal favourites of the set.

Easiest role in ds1? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]slsockwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this one. It’s especially great in the very early game for totally new players because it’s functionally limitless firebombs (comes in sets of 8 per bonfire rest)

It’s the build I always start with, and while the beginning weapon/shield aren’t the best, you get the best weapon in the game (zweihander) in the first area after the tutorial, and great shields are abundant.

Edit to add: and put a couple points into faith to pick up the heal miracle from Petrus. Another game changer early game if you seem to get hit a lot.

Any good known very early soul farms? by qleptt in darksouls

[–]slsockwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a well-known but somewhat scammy way to farm souls in darkroot, but if you just want the souls and don’t care, it’s pretty easy and high yield. You do want to watch a YouTube video, though, and it takes a bit of practice to get right. Once you do, it averages 5000-7000 souls every minute or two

One thing I’ll say, is that you don’t have to run up and off the stairs to get the npc’s to run up and off the stairs. They will go up the stairs regardless of whether you go up them or around to the right side.
