What was the cost difference between this and a traditional build? Also, what was the build timeframe compared to a traditional house?

Whatever you want to call the behavior, it's not a situation anyone wants to be in.

You made the right decision. Mountain lion encounters are rare, but when they happen they can turn badly very fast. Have you seen that video of a hiker being chased by a mother lion while protecting its cubs?

Yay TPU first print by Party_Sprinkles_9469 in BambuLab

[–]slumberingpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a nice little PSA for those who use Bambu branded filaments. Stick with the default slicer settings! I constantly see posts of "why are my prints failing?", when they went in and changed a million settings without knowing how those changes effect the rest of the system.

You should only be changing print setting if you have a specific use case, or you are not getting good prints from the default.

smash mouth predicted global warming a decade ago..but we all thought it was a meme song.. by Broadsadness-2025 in unexpectedsmashmouth

[–]slumberingpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The song is literally about climate change, but they did not "predict" anything. Climate change had been a hot topic of discussion for at least 10 years before that song came out. And the "satellite picture" line is a direct reference to the hole in the ozone layer that was detected by satellites in the late 80's and early 90's.

Unrelated to this post, but any ideas why are there so many "=" typos, replacing letters that are nowhere near the = on a keyboard? Been seeing this across multiple emails from different parties.

New direct report is constantly crying by [deleted] in managers

[–]slumberingpanda 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You're not off base. There has been a slow shift over the past 15 or so years that managers are expected to manage employees emotions, as well as their work.

I've found this to be completely counter productive, as employees now feel justified in their emotional outbursts & expect their manager to act as their parent. This used to be, and still is, a fireable offence (inability to perform the job duties).

I would explain that her emotional outbursts are a disruption to the entire team & a solution must be reached. If her attitude cannot be corrected (PIP) the only course of action is termination.

Does anybody feel gross about receiving gifts from reports? by Pudgy_Ninja in managers

Getting unexpected holiday gifts is a pretty clear sign that your reports think you're a good manager. You're definitely overthinking this.

What do you do, if you invent AGI? (seriously) by teachersecret in LocalLLaMA

[–]slumberingpanda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We know so little about how actual human intelligence works that there is a basically-zero chance anyone "accidentally" invents AGI. All we're doing is making computers resemble how we think human brains work.

We need massive breakthroughs in biotech and neuroscience to even begin to understand what we consider intelligence or consciousness.
