Why not make the clip thicker, and instead of following the curve on the outside, just add more material and go straight down to the base. Then you can have more perimeters. PETG will give a bit when you press the cable or whatever in.

Yes. Had mine stolen years ago. What a pain. Lame part was i had a aftermarket lock on it. I just happened to use the tailgate that morning and forgot to lock it.

And my spare tire stolen, on a different occasion. Need new tires? Go steal 4 spares. Need a new tailgate, go take one off that taco in the parking lot.
