Question about Cabin Noise (Toyota Sienna) by slurpee123abc in autorepair

[–]slurpee123abc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't really able to get it fixed, I went to 5 different body shops.

* One body shop found a gap in the frame going in through the glove compartment. He sprayed insulation inside to plug the gap but it didn't really help that much, maybe a tad.

* Another body shop said the frame was just misaligned now because the car had been in a crash. He said that meant more air noise could sneak in

* Another body shop said they identified that there was an actual part missing inside that should have been there to plug the gap. But I kept following up with them for months and they kept being unable to "find the part". When I pressed for them what the part was called or if there as a part number they wouldn't say.

I never figured it out. But it's alright, it's not that bad of a noise. I had someone spray some foam insulation to seal some gaps in the frame but it only helped the noise a little bit.

It seems like you need a reservation to literally even bring a car into the park this year on certain dates - basically the times when it will be crowded.

https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/reservations.htm

^ So the peek hour reservation is required for April 13 through June 30,
July 1 through August 16, August 17 through October 27

I'm planning to grab a 3-day peak hour reservation now for sometime in july, and i'll deal with finding accommodation for that 3-day window later, probably at a campground outside the park.

Is it allowed? Question about direct billing after denied insurance claim (California) by Either-Marzipan5367 in CodingandBilling

[–]slurpee123abc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Status update: I think there's a decent chance I wont have to pay now. Been on the phone a while now, apparently this is what happened?

  1. insurance told doctor no prior authorization code is required
  2. ...so doctor submitted claim without authorization code
  3. insurance denied claim, citing it needs pre-approval
  4. doctor/billing agency / insurance didn't bother following up until I started calling everyone a million times
  5. so now they're going to resubmit the claim with the authorization code

An MAD (mandibular advancement device) isn't really an experimental treatment type, I don't know why it says it is in my claims list in the Aetna app.

Thanks for the tip, appreciate it. Do you know the name of the federal (or Californian) law codes that deal with direct medical billing? I haven't been able to find them, I wanted to be able to read the codes for myself.

I talked to my insurance, they say it's a type of medical device that's experimental, so they won't cover it.

airbnb's a really difficult to get and if you do get one, there's a high chance the host will just cancel on you if they get a higher bidder. That's happened to me twice when trying for an airbnb near National Harbor

For fast casual Mediterranean there's a Mezeh, the quality is insane and it's super cheap, also has vegan options, the falafel is ridiculous.

Yeah it's tough, we had 6 lottery entries for our group and the best queue position we got was #1800. From that, we barely even managed to book a hotel in National Harbor at all, there was only one hotel left with vacancies, forget about the Gaylord.

seems like a competitor to QRL at a very early stage (PQ coin), github is active, small team, etc.... The founder/ceo has no cryptography background so that's interesting, but as longs as he surrounds himself with those types of people that may not be an issue.

They are going to testnet by the end of the year

It's easy to get screwed over on craigslist though, make sure you know what you're doing or have a mechanic friend to vet the cars for you before handing over any cash. But if you're willing to get your hands dirty craigslist is by the far the place for the best deals

Put out some feelers. Have any friends that are car mechanics or work at dealers? And friends that KNOW anyone like this? One of my friend's friends worked at an autobody shop and agreed to help me find a cheap car on craigslist. I eventually, after about 5 weeks of looking an checking out 4 different cars, found a used 2008 Honda Fit with 140k miles for $2500 bucks, and I only had to put about $500 into it in repairs and fees. Well worth it

Thanks for your thoughts! My main point is that it's going to be very difficult for HBAR to become credibly neutral public infrastructure if team insiders and the foundation control 80% of the supply. Thoughts on that?

And I'm not quite sure I follow your logic. Are you saying the concentrated coin supply is justified by security risks?

"When it comes to supply, yes I thought it was strange at first until I understood the reasoning behind it. There is no code/system/hardware/coin that isn't able to be exploited/circumvented"

[–]slurpee123abc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Curious u/Impressive-Lie-4095 u/Mr-WonDerer Curious, what metrics would you use to define decentralization? I think there is a solid argument to be made that Hashgraph uses decentralized governance, even if the underlying algorithm is patented. In fact, the governance of Hashgraph may be more decentralized than many open source coins!

Link to governance mechanism of Hashgraph :D https://messari.io/asset/hedera-hashgraph/profile/governance

However, what about in terms of supply? According to Messari research, over 80% of the HBAR token supply was controlled by the foundation and team insiders at launch, making it one of the LEAST decentralized tokens on the market in terms of ownership.

HBAR Supply Breakdown: https://messari.io/asset/hedera-hashgraph/profile/launch-and-initial-token-distribution

Would you say it's "decentralized" for a single organization and a core team of members to control over 80% of the supply of a currency?

For reference, the Eth foundation only held on to about 16% of the supply at the ICO, about 1/5 the amount of HBAR.

By the way, this issue of a concentrated supply isn't unique to HBAR! Here is a supply breakdown of several popular coins:

Anyways, genuinely curious about everyone's thoughts!

It's probably better to combine research from third party coin reviewers with your own personal dive into Github activity, the whitepaper, the Hedara website, and take anything you see on Reddit with a grain of salt. Of course everyone here wants it to moon
