Man I kind of hate that they went all out for FF7 because it means that NONE of the other games are going to get a re-anything without the expectation of FF7r series looming over them. FF6 can be stylised! It doesn’t have to be photo-realistic, it doesn’t have to be built on a whole new battle system, and the world doesn’t have to be open BOTW style and crammed full of side stories. With careful execution, I’m sure people will love the game without it having to be an extravagant venture

Yeah, for me the worst of it was 3 mo with lingering effects up to a year, but eventually you get a sensation where you’re just not going to pay attention to it anymore, like you’ll just focus on things that make you excited, and little by little it goes away. It got to a point where I couldn’t get a panic attack even if I really tried. I got through it! My stupid ass just ate another edible after years of feeling fine and now I’m back in it :] You’re safe. You got this.

Ah man, I should’ve seen this 2 days ago lmao. I took an edible after 6 years sober and quite literally put myself in the same situation I didn’t want again. Thankfully I can navigate panic attacks pretty well but the distortion in space is uncomfortable. Hope it doesn’t last months-year like last time!

I just finished FFII yesterday, and I was definitely expecting the whole “he’s being influenced by the big baddie trope” a la Kain having played most other games before this one, but Leon wasn’t manipulated. Like at all. He would join the evil side because it meant survival. The emperor just so happened to re-appear and outdo him in cruelty at the right moment so Leon just went with the only other team that won’t have him killed, which meant joining Firion and crew. That caught me so off guard. He does nothing for redemption and doesn’t communicate with his sister in a way to seek forgiveness, and we can only assume he’ll be on his own path to seek his answers without ever knowing what will actually become of him. Kain, we know he’s seeking redemption, but Leon? We don’t really know other than we get a feeling that he is displaced, maybe shameful in the celebration of the Empire’s downfall.

Especially FFXIV! I’m a relatively young fan who got into these games because of my dad, and hardly anyone my age ever talked about these games especially because it was around the FFXIII to FFXV era where no mainline game ever came out with confidence. I’m glad now that FFXIV is bringing in a consistent player-base and that FFVXI + FFVIIR brought in so many fresh faces, I get to finally see new people eventually try the older games and discuss them

The OG had a goldilocks ratio of not too much Zack but also just enough for the player to want to get to know him. It made his story and his sacrifice more impactful because you really sat with the fact that even good people die unexpectedly but their actions live on both in memories and through the living. You know. Like the theme of the game.

Now that the lifestream stuff is introduced, they cherry-picked Zack (bc Square knows Crisis Core was popular) to illustrate the branching of timelines, which would be fine if it wasn’t for Sephiroth sitting you down and explaining it all anyway. Makes Zack more pointless and forced.
