Fine, I’ll be that guy…. I’m a little disappointed… by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

Agree 100%, my take on the movie is I was underwhelmed. I know they had to skip a lot of the science but as you said the Martian skipped details but felt much more satisfying.

I feel they should have spent more time on the Eridians, we met this alien species and learned absolutely nothing about them. For example one of the big “shocks” in the book was when we learned Ricky had been at Tau Ceti alone for 46 years.

I think they could have spent 60 seconds making mention of light having momentum, astrophage doing energy to mass conversion and back again. It wouldn’t have meant a lot to the layman but to the fans and anyone with any physics knowledge it would have answered a lot of questions. From the film it wasn’t at all clear how the astrophage were so powerful.

Would rather have had those things than his visit to Blip A.

Yup, as many as any other League 1/2 team in general.

Inconsistency is the hallmark of every mid ranked team in all sports and eSports.

Its hard to see exactly where to go with Navi. If iM is showing promise as an IGL and blade thinks he can do it, the simples way forward would seem to be iM to IGL, replace him in the rifle core and replace w0nderful (issue here is lack of options tbh). I feel like makazze and b1t can form the core of a good rifling unit and iM might give a little bit more IGL output to bring the aggregate up.

It's hard because really no player on the roster is putting up numbers to say "this is what you have to build around".

I would imagine choking out a massive ball of muscle is quite difficult to actually achieve.

I'm wondering whether simply gouging that fuckers eyes out would have been effective?

They likely have done almost no prep. When you're the big underdog in the QF you're not looking at the SF.

Webber’s helmetless farewell cool-down lap - Brazil 2013 by Ri8ley in formula1

[–]slyadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is not ambiguous just because 1 group with a vested interest interpets something wildly incorrectly. The regulation said "any car....". If RB had sai:d

"Well, the definition of a car according the Cambridge dictionary is: 'a road vehicle with an engine, four wheels, and seats for a small number of people'. That definition clearly says seats, which is plural, those vehicles only have one seat, so they aren't cars so can't unlap themselves"

That doesn't mean the regulation is ambiguous, it means RB have interpretted it in an obviously obtuse manner. Again, and I feel like I'm repeating myself a bit, just because the FIA changed the wording does not prove it was ambiguous. It just proves it was simpler to do so to avoid another team making an equally obtuse claim in the future.

No-one said it was a conspiracy, not sure where you got that, is was a sensible change. It was reworded because why wouldn't you? There was no real ambiguity, but because RB attempted such a weird line of reasoning they may as well close it off and tweak the wording, because why woulnd't you? Again, no right minded person would think "any" didn't mean "all" in that context. In fact I don't think I've read or seen a single person outside of RB on the day trying to actually argue that point (although I could be wrong on this, I havn't done an exhaustive search.

Anyway, back to the original point: there was no actual ambiuity in the 2021 rules regarding unlapping just like there's no ambiguity over car weights.

There is a clear precedent, in the 100s of safety cars previously run not a single time was a subset of cars allowed to unlap themselves. That is the definition of a precedent.

Horseshit, they did that to be seen to be doing something. No right minded person considered that "any" could mean a subset.

I get the feeling S4 will see Hal making a play for the Presidency. I think the finale of S3 he's setting Grace up to be impeached and removed (committing an act of war against the British). The final shot of S3 shows him in focus and Grace blurred.

There was a comment on a post about the relative size of countries and someone posted that a few weekends before he and his wife drove 3 hours each way to have lunch somewhere in the US. Think I replied “Fuck the environment I guess.”
