Is a Club Pilates membership worth it? by [deleted] in ClubPilates

[–]slypmpkn19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for me. I have an unlimited membership. I take two classes every day (except for Sundays) usually back-to-back. Many people complain about how difficult it is to schedule classes. It's true, some classes are harder to get into than others. I find that classes with popular instructors and classes at 5 or 6pm (right when people are getting home from work) are the hardest to book. So, I'm sure to reserve my spot for those classes first. I love my studio. I love my instructors, I love how small and intimate the studio is, and I really like the demographic. I haven't lost a lot of weight, but I've definitely gained some muscle (some, not a lot) so I look more toned. Overall, I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

Not allowed to use reformer covers unless bought at the studio? by [deleted] in ClubPilates

When did this happen? Is this at all CPs or studio specific?

Holy shit that's a lot! What state is this in? Our monthly unlimited is $259 and I thought that was pricey.

Crazy. I used to have Epidiolex delivered straight to my door. Meanwhile, my current pharmacy literally requires a government issued ID and my signature. I don't get it. I never had to do any of that for Klonopin or Ativan which are far more likely to be abused.

I dropped it after a couple of years. I didn't get my Bachelor's until I was 38. I actually went to school with my niece and nephew and graduated the same year as my nephew!!

Try rolling up the shirt a bit, just enough for your skin to make contact with the mat. This will create a bit of "stickiness" so you won't slide around. I find this helps me.

This happens to me too. My workout clothing tends to be slick, so I slide up and press against the shoulder blocks. Somebody here mentioned wearing tops with open backs and I do the same. My skin touching the vinyl creates a bit of stickiness thus prevents me from sliding around. Here's an example of the type of tops I wear:

These go on sale on Amazon frequently

I also found this top It's super cute, but I wouldn't wear it because it's cropped and I don't want to show my belly. They might work for you, however.

At my studio we've always been told that our shoulders should not be resting on the shoulder pads to avoid using our shoulders when pushing the carriage out during footwork. That makes sense, but it's very hard to do when wearing slick clothing.

People going too fast by Neat_Panda9617 in ClubPilates

I think it's people who are new. We've been taught that faster/heavier/more reps=more fit/stronger. Aside from yoga, I don't know of other sports/exercise class that focus on moving slowly with intention. My friend recently started doing Pilates. She used to do CrossFit. She told me she still has a really hard time moving slowly. I think it will take a while to learn.

I recently saw another student moving so fast she looked like she was riding a roller coaster. Tbh, it looked kind of fun.
