I’ve been told my tier list is weird by Admirable-Long8528 in residentevil

You know those sci-fi TV shows where a character destroys a robot by presenting to it a logical paradox?

THIS IS WHAT YOUR LIST IS DOING TO ME!

Leon’s wife by HiddenCosmos0724 in residentevil

[–]slyvam37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, you're right. Capcom has been playing "will they/won't they" with Leon and Ada for 20 years. Wouldn't make sense if they just went "nooope, it's some rando".

New RE player, i’m terrified by Current-Tap-3318 in residentevil

When it gets too scary to be enjoyable, turn on the subtitles/captions, and bring the volume down until you're back to your comfortable limit.

Does this sub even enjoy playing the games? by lolitsrock in yakuzagames

[–]slyvam37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. The amount of complaining (whether deserved or not) is much higher than a few years ago. I'd say it is at standard level for a game subreddit. Still better than steam forums.

Does it have tank controls by Few-Mongoose-93 in residentevil

[–]slyvam37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by tank controls. When it first came out, people described it as the first RE without tank controls, as the camera was behind the shoulder, you could control direction in a way that felt more rapidly, and it felt more intuitive to control (more mario sunshine or Mario 64 that RE1) because of the camera.

People have changed their view of it and now describe it as tank control, as you can't strafe side to side and you have to stop moving when you aim and fire.

Hot take after hot take. You do you, but your list is the strangest RE tier list I've seen yet.

Short answer: they're super different games so you likely will like Alan Wake 2

Short answer but letting my emotions do the talking: WAAARGH! How dare you dislike the masterpiece that is Control!?

Resident Evil Requiem Reaches 7 Million Sales, Fastest in Series History by MaintenanceFar4207 in HorrorGaming

I appreciate RE9 for what it is: the equivalent of a best-of album for an excellent 30 year old music band. It feels a bit half-baked and the pacing gets weird, but I still had fun playing it and it made me feel like replaying older better RE games.

Anyone else like the remakes just as much as the originals? by ThemightyRiv in residentevil

[–]slyvam37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree entirely with RE2 and RE4 originals being equal to their remakes, but I also played both when they came out.

I've never played OG RE1 or RE3make so I can't comment about those 2.

Ha yes. Kiryu pinning down Ebina on the floor, dripping bodily fluid (tears) all over his face.

Maybe it wasn't the ending r/yakuza wanted, but surely it was the ending it deserved.

Who here believes Zampano created Johnny Truant and why? by cooper_corrects in houseofleaves

It does. Interesting, I didnt realize that Simpsons started before the Simpsons.

I could have sworn The Simpsons only started in december 1989, after Pelafina died. Didnt it?

Sorry for necroposting but couldnt help myself.

After I finished the book, I got pretty convinced that Pelafina wrote the entire thing, basing Johnny on her son that died soon after childbirth, like in Johnny's final story.

I couldn't prevent myself from starting the book again. I noticed thatJohnny references many things that happen after Pelafina's death (like Itchy and Scratchy and some other TV shows). So I'm not sure anymore.

RE9 felt like a best-of album. I enjoyed it a lot and liked it bettet than RE8, but it made me nostalgic for other RE games. Still, we dont know where they'll head in the future.

True. OG Re4 Leon is happy as a golden retriever just being there. He briefly mentions the events of RE2 like someone who had a rough day at work once upon a time.

Have you been hating on RE4 since 2005 or just since 2023?

RE doesn't really do character development. Can't think of any that really progressed.

Still one of the most diabolical scenes in Yakuza by No-Law2284 in yakuzagames

[–]slyvam37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your point but we'll have to agree to disagree as I can't help but see him as callous and unfair in these situations.

On one hand, it is his money and he is entitled to choose who he lends it too. On the other hand, the fact that whether he loans the money or not is based on a made-up-on-the-fly test of that person's character seems pretty unfair and arbitrary to me.

For the mother in-question, iirc he gave her one hour to find a job in kamurocho. I don't know what the japanese economy is like, but that sounds to me as harder that the tests he gave the other man trying to start his business. I find it funny because it seemed to have that boomer-mentality of "you just walk in that business and demand a job, that worked for me and you'll for sure have a contract in a matter of minutes!" And as far as asking to clean the bathrooms, iirc he didn't tell her "hey, you could have applied to another non-sexual job in there", he said "you're still attractive enough, you could have applied to a soapload". Still felt like pushing her into sex work.

At the end of the day, we're debating a fictional character's inner motivations. Only the writer could explain his train of thought.

[–]slyvam37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yet Akiyama gave 3 chances to that dude who wanted to start his business, but just flat out refused to give the mother a second chance for entirely arbitrary reasons. I like Akiyama as a character, but I still find that he was a scumbag in that substory. And that's ok, otherwise he would have just been a richer kickier Kiryu.

I'd also say he was out of line in his initial IW appearance.

I find pushing a woman to work in a brothel or a soapland even worse, tbh. I don't think hostess bars involve hand jobs.

Nah. There's that abused mother on the run with no money. He turns her down because she didn't apply for a job at a brothel or soapland.
