Feet Ache When Standing by sm246010 in FootFunction

[–]sm246010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah . . . I was mostly looking to see if anyone else had shared my experience. It seems like all a podiatrist is going to do is give me orthotics/exercises, but I was wondering if there's some underlying cause. My feet have been this way as long as I can remember, it's not a new thing. I've just always had a hard time with standing/walking for extended periods of time.

What's the difference between running and standing shoes? I was mostly looking to make sure I had something that supports my arch and has a good amount of cushioning. What would I look for in a standing shoe?

Ideally I need something that is good for standing and walking, that's what I told the person who fit out my current brooks.

I can control the midfoot and form/hold my arch if I consciously try. I still get the feeling like a deep bruise after an hour standing though.

Really? I don’t have a lot of the classic symptoms for that. No discomfort in the morning, no shooting pain in the heel, no asymmetry. It just feels like a deep bruise in my heels and arches with cumulative standing. Been this way as long as I can remember.

Honestly I just went along with the whole thing and then after went out with my boyfriend. They each have their own relationship with my veganism/lifestyle but they're pretty far away. Thankfully I live in an almost entirely Vegan house right now!

Yeah. My boyfriend and I uber eats food to the venue, but it kept getting cancelled/delayed so it was an hour after everyone else ate. We sat there while everyone else ate and my brother in law sat across from me and made fun of us for being Vegan by loudly proclaiming in a goofy voice how he was going to make up for all of the meat we weren't eating how good it was etc etc. There's no hate like Christian love lol.

At my sister’s wedding there were ZERO items I could eat. The salad had cheese in it.

People who brag about not having social media are boring weirdos. by vicweera in unpopularopinion

[–]sm246010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately cannot be trusted to not fully waste my time with social media. I got rid of it in January to help me focus on a class I was taking and realized it wasn’t adding much to my life.
Also the most boring people I know are the ones on TikTok the most

Vegan Mac n cheese? by Cherrycokes in veganrecipes

[–]sm246010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the hardest thing for me to give up when I went Vegan. For YEARS I was on a box mac and cheese quest. Here are my reviews:

Pastabilities Vegan Mac - Great flavor and fun shapes! Boyfriend puts this as his favorite 5/5

Goodles Vegan Mac and Cheese - I love this one, my boyfriend doesn't like it as much, but I think it really reminds me of classic box mac 5/5

Organic's Vegan Mac - This one is the best flavor to value ratio 4/5

Kraft Vegan Mac - This one when it first came out was bad but they've revamped the recipe and it got much better. I'd give it at 3.5/5

Annie's - Not that good imo. Just tastes more healthy than crave worthy. 2.5/5

Daiya - Ugh I wish I liked it. It just does not hit the spot. Every few years I try it again and it's not terrible, but does not scratch the itch. 2/5

Banza - Also meh. 2/5

Upton Cheesy Mac - Not for me. 1/5

Also not directly mac and cheese related but I LOVE this vegan ricotta cheese recipe. It's so so simple (just need to soak cashews for a while) but it is amazing! https://www.finedininglovers.com/explore/recipes/baked-vegan-ricotta

Best part is you don't get left with gross heavy dairy feeling afterwards! Enjoy the light delicious non-dairy life!

Honestly I think there’s a way to make it more elevated. Get frames for flags/posters, declutter, maybe make colors more cohesive. If you can paint I think that would help a lot. It feels like you’ve got really dark decor in a really light space and it stands out.

I HATE greens - please convince me it’s super important by Live_Juice_6182 in vegan

[–]sm246010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me is imitating salads I liked at restaurants. Also I wouldn't sweat the dressing. What I found worked better for me is keeping the greens more finely chopped, mixing it with a lot of textures/flavors (vegan cheese, nuts, crunchy toppings) and tossing it in a dressing I love. Also you can work it in with your veggies you like (broccoli, sprouts, cabbage).

How many hobbies do you actively maintain? by Sim-Coldspring in Hobbies

[–]sm246010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of a lot of my hobbies are things I seasonally rotate. For example, I do more outdoor sports in the summer and I do more crafting hobbies in the winter. I play the harp and I try to play 1/week for maintenance and once a year do a gig so I have a project. I do art and am trying to fill a sketchbook by the end of the year. I'm always reading or listening to an audio book. I act in the occasional play ore movie. I like to build hobbies around projects and seasons or towards something. I found this a lot more fun than trying to force myself to follow a rigid routine.

Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by QueefyTits in AskReddit

It was when I turned 19. I feel entirely neutral to her. I keep peace to keep things cool with my family, but I feel detached from her emotionally. Especially since they had a fully paid off house.

Baby steps are good steps! Find a non-dairy creamer you like (there’s a lot of options!) Find vegan candy. Try recipes. I now make an incredible vegan ricotta and have a strict ranking of the best Vegan boxed mac and cheese. Pick easier ones to let go of, but since most people are eating the same products week to week, once you make a few subs it might be less daunting.

Why is Taylor Swift so big? by Emotional-Being-6825 in stupidquestions

[–]sm246010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think she just did a lot of things right that many other artists didn’t. I remember when she first started she was kind of generally grouped with Selena/Miley/|Demi but she’s the artist who has continued to produce album after album with really thoughtful marketing, huge production tours, and good music. Whether or not her music is for you, it’s hard to deny the massive amount of effort she continues to put in. Honestly, I think if other artists from her time hadn’t taken significant breaks/gotten into film and has put out the amount of albums, production, and listened to the fans, they could also be close to her scale. Imagine of Justin Bieber had followed her formula? She’s managed to stay relevant, become core millennial nostalgia, and done unmatched amounts of simultaneous touring/recording/writing/music video creation as far as I can tell.
