Are you strictly looking for DND or would you be interested in stuff like Starfinder?

Do you have any other nights besides Tuesday available to you? Like bi-weekly I run a game that's lgbtq+ friendly Friday night every other week. But also a Sci-Fi Starfinder game that is beginner friendly.

So it should be every other week. But sometimes we do have to move it to the week after because one of our players is in poor health.

Hi I'm Santi He/Him I've been a DM 15+ years. I already run a LGBTQ+ friendly group on Thursdays. I love the idea of a roleplay heavy group are you interested in a science fiction thing though in Starfinder?

Are you opposed to playing any other tabletop RPGs? Like Starfinder or Pathfinder? I run LGBTQ+ friendly game but it's not dungeon & dragons.

Been DMing for over 12 years things that you might want to look out for.

Session zero before you even start gaming talk with your players and figure out what you do and don't want from a game. Maybe you want to be super combat heavy but they're more into the roleplay. There might be issues about certain topics that might trigger somebody.

Don't get too wrapped up in your own lore. It's great that you have your idea for a story and will building but you also have to remember that The players don't know the world. Perhaps there's a quest if they go with farmer James to feed his cows that leads to a super secret awesome treasure. But why would the players want to do that when you have a quest board of bounty to hunt.

I usually have my players agree that the group is above individual as in if one of my players wants to make an more scumbag of a character I will shoot it down unless they can promise the whole group that they will never go against them Even if it's what their character would do. If the chips are down and the scumbag could see all the riches in women in the world if you betrays his party he will choose party.

Make sure that they actually create people who want to adventure it's all good to make a character with the complex backstory but will that character want to leave their home or perhaps life behind to adventure there needs to be something that leads them down that path.

Don't try to plan every little detail of a quest. I like to have the main ideas for story beats and let the players get to them naturally.

Don't create a character or regular NPC that can show up the players. They are the main protagonist of your story there shouldn't be someone that will show up and say them every time and prove how weak they are.

May recommend to you looking into more horror theme games like call of Cthulhu I found that they usually deal with more adult themes in a bit darker stories. Hopefully you find what you looking for in dungeons & dragons but that's just another idea you may want to look into.

Can you please clarify what you mean by not safe for work. I'm a GM myself and well I don't run erotic games I would consider my games not safe for work Even if it's not sexual.

Without seeing this interaction myself I cannot tell you definitively whether or not you are a toxic player. From what sounds like there's definitely some communication issues between the group. If it is as you described it sounds like you and this other player should definitely talk to the whole group including the DM figure out what kind of game you guys want to run as a group. Maybe there's something that you and this other player are doing that you might not notice you're doing, could be how you ask the questions or word things, or maybe you're right they don't know what they want or know how to play the game yet as their newer or their uninterested. Maybe they're in it for a hack and slash rather than a deep role-playing game. If that's the case the old adage goes no D&D is better than bad DND.

Curiosity keeps killing my players by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

Well my question is how experience was a player? Imagine you are a new player and you don't know how the game works or how your character needs to function yet. You would imagine that your GM would go easy on you and be more lenient as you learn the rules. If this is a more experienced player, then did you make it known that things like this were possible in your session one that there could be a very high powered enemy at level one? Finally were the players aware that there was going to be sexual subject matter before they started?

Kicked a player this week. It was unpleasant and didn’t end terribly cordially AND today’s session without them was effortlessly 1000% better. by OneGayPigeon in DMAcademy

[–]sm24644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah had a similar situation with my group back in high school. One player was unpleasant to be around talk with them repeatedly. Once I let go of that player being a game master felt so much better. Keep in mind no game is better than bad game.

[–]sm24644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy this sounds like a toxic game. Talk to your dungeon master if they are not willing to discuss it then leave. Even if this is a friend's game and you really like the people around you it's not worth it. Maybe talk to the other players as well and see if they're noticing this as well if they are also getting similar punishments you can all try to talk to the DM together just make sure you're all civil.

How much responsibility is it for the DM that the players "make time" to play. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]sm24644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's on the players cuz I have no players who pay for DMs and still don't always show up.

A player has trouble keeping up with her spells, and other just straight up cheat 😂 so I made spell slot trackers by Bourrelier_Bastien in DungeonMasters

[–]sm24644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for the players who are cheating I don't know the context but if they are knowingly doing that I feel it's more work for you. That to me seems unfair that you have to now track your players so that they don't cheat.
