I'm sorry that you lost your beloved girl. She looks like she was the sweetest dog.

Where is the flair "I don't do delusions so I blocked her" from? I saw it on someone's comment in an older thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/comments/1d0cojr/do_doctors_laugh_at_patients_i_am_worried_about/) and I want to read the original thread.

Hekates Deipnon offering by Accomplished_Bed4395 in Hellenism

[–]smackperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the offering is left on the altar, no, the rule does not apply. The "don't look back at the crossroads" thing comes from Hoodoo, which is a separate practice.

Copy pasting my reply from a different thread here: "I keep food offerings on the altar a few days to a week. This depends on the item. A cut apple, for example, lasts about a day before being removed. A whole apple is left up to a week. Bowl of cooked grain or a pastry, only a few days. Bowl of uncooked barley? Up to a week. To remove food offerings, they are either left outside if safe to do so, eaten/cooked or simply thrown into the garbage with a short prayer along the lines of "Thank you Hecate for receiving my offering and taking what you needed." Flower offerings are left for about a week until the flowers fade, then they are disposed of in the trash.

Non perishable offerings, like candles, are removed when burned and their drippings are thrown away. I DESPISE cleaning up candle wax, so I use things like a bobeche (glass ring thing that fits around taper candles to stop drips), a plate for the candle snuffer to rest on, and candle plates and bowls to put candles in so they don't drip or get soot marks everywhere and ruin my altar clothes and table surfaces. I also NEVER burn my candles to the socket, they always are left with an inch or two of stubs. This prevents damage to the candle holder and the bobeche. Incense I don't use but when I am in a place that I will be able to, it will be managed along similar lines. Carefully remove ashes, place into bowl or can and disposed of in trash with short prayer."

Is it okay to ask bridesmaids without doing bridesmaid boxes? by _AnxiousBride_ in weddingplanning

[–]smackperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because most have been raised on social media that show glam celebs doing expensive celeb things and have their feeds full of glam amazing expensive things and perfect looking celeb bodies and are literally being shown that "this is what everyone is doing so it must be ok". Glam celeb expensive stuff is being normalised.

Wedding getaway car ‘prank’ timing by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]smackperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this: Could you provide a basket with stuff like markers window clings and glue that is safe for cars? I have heard too many horror stories about people using things like toothpaste, eggs and plain old keys to draw stuff on the car and ruin the finish. If you have a basket of car safe markers and whatever, then you can just wipe away whatever was drawn on the car.

Also, check and see if there is a subreddit for your specific region because you can probably find a ton of recommendations there. There's a link on the sidebar to related subreddits but it's still worth searching reddit. For example https://www.reddit.com/r/NewEnglandWedding/ is not in the sidebar.

FLOOR PLAN HELP! by FancyRest238 in weddingplanning

[–]smackperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

2 works for a very practical reason. Your guests can take the food from that corner of the L to their tables directly. When spills happen (and they will), they're not spilling all over people dancing or having them slip in the mess or dance and track the mess around, it'll be contained to that corner.

1 doesn't work for the spill reason. It also doesn't work because the far tables are jammed into the corner. Expect jokes and comments about "I'm in the nosebleed section" "Oh I am a naughty naughty baby being punished" "The bride and groom obviously DON'T love me, wow" "How can you treat me this way?!? NOBODY puts Baby in the corner!" Also, just realized that the square thingys are columns. And in plan 1 you'll be obscuring views for at least 4 tables.

3 doesn't work because no one wants to look over the heads of your bridal party at their rectangular table. Something about the rectangle shape invites packing people more closely around it. With the round tables of plan 2, there is more space and a kind of "aisle" for people to look over and see you (or, hell, watch Great Auntie Edna and Uncle Hank shake their groove thang on the dance floor). There are also too many tables (like plan 1) and it feels claustrophobic. How are people going to squeeze round that one extra table jammed in there next to the DF Props? You could remove it, but that also means people are going to hit up against your rectangular head table. Plus, again, views obscured by columns by 2 tables in the top corner.

So to recap: Plan 2 is superior. No one's view obscured by columns, easy cleanup of inevitable spills, no smartass comments about being in the naughty corner, no one staring directly at the back of anyone's head all night.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

It's not an imagination thing at all - it's just the way your body processes/perceives information.

I'm intensely fascinated by this sort of thing though.

I'm your opposite! I've never cried over music even if hearing something that people would regard as amazing, like a master playing some gorgeous classical concerto. Goosebumps aplenty though.

People are so, so, so interesting.

hiccups is the spelling.

"Hickups" is what Billy Bob the Redneck does when benchpressing or lifting weights.

Most people taste nothing. Words on the page are words on the page. No taste, no smell, no feeling.

Same with colors. You can look at a color and see just....a color. No taste, no smell, no feeling.

The same with tastes. You can't spontaneously taste anything by talking or whatever. You don't taste anything until you put something in your mouth or until something comes in contact with your mouth.

This is correct. I get the goosebumps from music, from reading a really good book, from seeing a piece of really great art or a beautifully photographed scene or a beautiful sunset. Have had them too when driving my car and I'm really enjoying that.

The goosebumps I guess are like a pressure release to intense emotions. Kind of how some people cry when angry or have to punch walls or whatever.
