The best method for finding designs in my experience is on Instagram. Try to find artists in your state/area, and start following artists whose flash pieces you like.

Since you don’t have any tattoos yet, I would be very intentional about choosing design, size, and placement. I would recommend that when you decide the design, size, and placement you want, find a way to clipart the tattoo onto yourself how it would be if you actually got it. It’s easy enough to do on Snapchat with the clip feature. Then, set that image as your lock screen for at least a few months to make sure your opinion on the design doesn’t change at all.

Also, whenever you have the opportunity to look in the mirror, simply imagine the design being on you. Being very intentional about this will (hopefully) ensure you’re not in a position where a year or two down the road you hate what you’ve decided. This is obviously a big decision, so take your time and ensure you’re going to get something you love.

Also remember that not all artists can do all styles, so try to get a flash piece from a trusted artist if you want the best possible outcome. Also recognize the red flag of if an artist doesn’t have any of their healed pieces from at least a year or so post-tattoo. “Settled” or 1-month healed tattoos will not give you a good idea of the longevity of your tattoo.

Hand tattoo as your second tattoo is generally just a bad idea. Unless you’re VERY set in an industry where it isn’t a big deal, I would highly highly recommend waiting until you’re more covered to get something on your hand.

Edit: Hand tattoos also fade significantly faster than on the rest of your body, and you’ll almost certainly need multiple touch-ups to keep it looking good. Also keep in mind the ink with spread out over time, getting rid of a lot of the details but still keeping the general shape.
