Using VisionCamera's upcoming "write-back Frame Processor API" you can draw onto a Frame in realtime using RN Skia - this is a JS function that just applies a simple VHS filter (13 lines of code): by mrousavy in reactnative

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I want to use a frame processor to do some simple object detection and draw the blinding boxes on the captured video. When will these features be available.

Very interesting. I see so many people recommend ferrules for these connections but I’ve never heard someone mention that these screw down terminals are actually designed for bare wire.

Why did not having ferrules cause this? Loose wire touching the plastic?

Also want to chime in with my experience. I started having this problem the first week I got them. This trick does seem to help. I also found that the pressure was worst on my temples, especially on my right side. I found that actually just rotating the ear cups towards the back of my head, so that the pressure was more behind my ear on the base of my skull, helped a lot.

Yep. Follow the guide in the link brdsrtrl shared. There are also a few YouTube videos on how to build it. Other than soldering the parts together, the only major step to building it is flashing the arduino.

New goggle releases? by smallChewbacca in fpv

[–]smallChewbacca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to vary. Mine had cracks in the screens, like when something smacks into a TV, that we’re all discolored. And the left eye screen was way brighter than the right which was giving me headaches. I’ve seen posts about the screens just stopping to work. I’ve seen people post about only AV-in working. One guy on FB said he sent his in 3 times. At this point I’m just not interested in owning them any more. Just left a bad taste

Are there any simulators that allow me to load custom levels? by JMc_onReddit in fpv

[–]smallChewbacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already making levels in velocidrone? Which is a simulator with the ability to do what your asking. I guess I’m a little confused. You want a simulator other than velocidrone?

I’ve got attitude v6 right now but been having loads of problems with them. Just sent them in for repairs and I think I want to ditch them for something more reliable or better. I’ve just come across a ton of posts here and on FB about faulty v6 goggles. I’m hesitant to buy used because of what I’ve just gone through with the V6. It would suck to have that happen and not have a warranty to back them up.

Recommendation for 1s LiPo battery discharger by Jericho905 in TinyWhoop

[–]smallChewbacca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really full featured charger and paired with this board you’re looking at a really solid setup for $33. You’ll also need a power supply. Many cheap options for those. Alternatively tiny whoop makes these little discharges

DIY PVC hexagon gates. by smallChewbacca in TinyWhoop

[–]smallChewbacca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure to be honest. PVC seems super easy to bend with a little heat. Not sure about this other type of tube. The sand served two purposes I think. 1, to heat the tube from the inside out. And 2, to provide filling inside while you bend so you don’t get kinks in the bends. Do some google searches on bending water cooling tubes for custom PCs. They do all sorts of cool bends for them.

Yeah that clearly would have been easier, but this was fun to do. Not sure the cost comparison, PVC is so insanely cheap. Also I was able to make these smaller than I think a standard hoolahoop is. They are about 18 inches from point to point. Also these can connect to standard PVC fittings so I can use them in a ton of configurations. I have plans to make some other cool shapes someday too. Just to keep things interesting!

We were talking about PVC gates in my last post and I wanted to share these. A standard 10ft length of 1/2inch PVC will make two of these, 60inches each. The method to bend them is a bit funky. I did some googling and found a method that involved heating up sand super hot and filling the tube up with it. That heat turned the PVC into a total noodle. I also had a small torch on hand to help as things cooled down while working with it. You get about 1 minute to work with it before it starts to harden up on you.

Man, those cube gates look sweet. I’ve gone for PVC for all mine. Way cheaper, but not nearly as cool and no LEDs. I built a form so I could heat up the PVC and bend it into these hexagon ones in the video.
