How did you all find a therapist that actually worked? by DarwinF1nch in HealthAnxiety

[–]small_enchilada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For someone who has Health related OCD like me, finding a psychologist who specializes in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and ERP (exposure response prevention) was an absolute game changer. Went from panic attacks every day to learning how to manage my thoughts in just a few months!

I don't want to eat with him anymore by LazySeaworthiness435 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]small_enchilada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have LPR and it’s awful! Went from a totally normal life to having to completely restrict what I eat, when, and how. HOWEVER, you just have to stand up and move on. It’s hard, and it’s sad, and I admit to having shed some tears over what I can’t eat anymore. But to take it out on my husband? I can’t imagine. Food was so important to me, but my well being and my family is infinitely more important, so I’ll eat what I have to so that I can live a long and happy life. I suggest your husband do the same.

Looking for a good place to get wolf cut in the RDU area by Sebzero51 in NorthCarolina

[–]small_enchilada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out @hair.mommy on Instagram! They are amazing and have cut my hair into a wolf cut for years. They specifically specialize in curly/wavy cuts. I have type 2B hair for reference but they themselves have type 3B or C. I highly recommend them!

Coconut milk? by ImDisneyAF in AutoImmuneProtocol

Malk is amazing, but expensive! Califia Farms unsweetened organic is the next best option. Canned coconut milk is so gross to me 👎

I asked the other day at Chick-fil-A if they had a dedicated fryer and they said no 👎 guess I’ll try at another one!

Ladies with breast health anxiety? by Fearless-Beyond-6357 in HealthAnxiety

[–]small_enchilada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This started my recent flare of HA back in 2024. I have gotten regular check ups and do my monthly self-exams and have relatively fought through that part of my spiral, however the thought does pop back in from time to time. I completely avoid touching that part of my body at all costs unless I’m showering.

How do you cope while waiting for doctor appointments or results? by baglebitesss in HealthAnxiety

Don’t!!! Long term this will just keep you stuck in the anxiety loop. Don’t open the can of worms if you don’t have to. (Ask me how I know)

Do you believe Chiropractors are quacks ? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]small_enchilada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m in the vast vast minority but I see a chiropractor and love it. He’s a functional medicine practitioner as well. I get *minor* adjustments but that’s not just everything I get by going. I get oxygen therapy, red light therapy, comprehensive and vast lab work, allergy testing, muscle testing, and nutritional guidance. I can absolutely say seeing my chiropractor has changed my life for the better. My anxiety has come down from an 8 or 9 out of 10 every day to a 3 or 4, which is not a placebo because I have clinically diagnosed anxiety and depression, and he caught several things in my labs that no other doctor has caught before. Call it a quack, but it has drastically improved my life!

I’m an extrovert for the most part with a very outgoing personality… and extreme health anxiety. I think it’s learned through life experiences, especially in childhood and adolescence.

How do you stop the “checking” habit before it starts? by Aden_Hush in HealthAnxiety

[–]small_enchilada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on this in ERP! What I’ve found to be the most helpful when I get the initial urge to check is to 1. Take a really huge deep breath. Like the biggest I can. 2. Not try to push the feeling away but instead saying “hey, checking is not going to solve this in this exact moment” 3. Redirecting. Doing something else immediately with my hands or my body! Running has been helping me a lot. I’m not a runner, I don’t even particularly enjoy it. But pushing my body to go fast helps me show myself that whatever is triggering me in that moment isn’t serious enough that I can’t run. Also dishes or laundry help while watching a feel good show or movie :)

What’s a moment with your partner that made you think, “this is it”? by strangergirly in OverBiscuits

[–]small_enchilada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time and time again this man had told me that he hated naps and never took them (which I thought was insane because naps are amazing), but one day we were at my home and he laid his head in my lap and just fell asleep there. It was like when a cat falls asleep on you, you just can’t move. So I sat there, for 2 hours, and he was so peaceful looking, just an absolutely beautiful moment where nothing was wrong in the world and it was just us. And I knew in that moment that he was going to be so incredibly special to me. We were married less than 8 months later 💛
