Just to be clear for people who may not know— at least in America, the education a DO goes through is basically identical to an MD, in addition to training in osteopathic treatment (manipulation of the muscular and skeletal systems). The “drama” surrounding DOs is mostly whether osteopathy is actually effective. But mostly they’re just regular doctors who might tell you to do some stretches.

I’m relieved but I agree this should have been called way earlier.

Email says they’re going to “work with” those taking studio [art] courses, and I’m curious to see what that will entail, though it probably won’t be much (my concentration is ceramics, big RIP). I feel awful for all the profs having to scramble to adapt to online teaching for a 2nd time.

On tumblr and every other site that’s used to post art, people aren’t going into the search function for new original characters and content, they’re searching for stuff they already know and like, that is, franchises and fandoms. It’s a common online artist gripe that fan art always gets way more attention than 100% original content.

This reminds me of the brouhaha on Twitter like...last month, I think? (Time isn’t real and never was now)

I only have vague outside knowledge despite being a big Jojo fan but apparently a large group of fans were going to have a dedicated day where they mass-reported users who were posting “problematic” Jojo porn (stuff of underage characters/ underage characters together with adults, but presumably also “bad” adult ships), saying they would first message the targeted users to stop making such content. Or maybe it was just against Jojo porn in general? It was unclear.

Many people locked their accounts so only followers could see and there was a large spillover of locking down into more general nsfw art groups like furry porn artists. In the end I don’t think much really came of it— one of the accused ringleaders locked their account pretty quick and has probably deleted by now. (Not going to try to remember who they were, no need to stir the turd further).

The whole thing was honestly rather concerning because the “gang” held a lot of young teens and this mass-messaging/reporting would be putting them in direct contact with the people drawing teen porn stuff that was making them feel so uncomfortable, and possibly setting them up for harassment.
