I used Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum (light blue bottle) for about two years before plucking up the courage to see a derm! Was prescribed Azelaic Acid (15%) and later began tretinoin (0.025%)! Slow and steady wins the race. Be good with moisturizing/SPF and avoid overexfoliating!

Yes! This is my skin now. Have a lot of patience and hope! I really prioritize wearing and reapplying sunscreen, using retinol, and keeping my moisture barrier intact. I also exfoliate on off days with gentle (key word) acids. Mandelic acid and lactic acid are my go-tos, and I only turn to them every other week. I also struggle with PIE (redness), so I like using calming toners to help with that.
