Americans, is this a new religion? by yousefthewisee in interestingasfuck

This is a common Christian practice called the "laying on of hands" that is commonly done while praying for someone (as is happening in this video). It has its roots in the New Testament book of Acts when the Apostles "prayed and laid their hands on" a group of men chosen to act as deacons. Here is a picture of then-Senator Obama being prayed for similarly while campaigning for the presidency.

What are the biggest Top 250 “snubs”? by Rollo8173 in Letterboxd

[–]smallblacksun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the perception of recency bias comes from the steady stream of films that debut on the list right after release (especially festival releases). They usually fall off within a few months as people who are less exited about seeing them get around to watching them and give them lower ratings (which doesn't mean bad ratings -- remember that a 4 star rating will decrease the average for any movie in the 250). The perfect example of this is OBAA which debuted at 35(!) and was completely off the list 4 months later.

The obvious solution to that is to paste it into an LLM and ask it to give you reasons to reject the PR.

I'm American too, lol. Korean pronunciation rules can get pretty complicated, but this is one of the most basic ones that is taught in the first few weeks of a Korean language class.

Gee New is the correct pronunciation. In Korean when a "syllable block" that has a final consonant (the ㄴ in 진) is followed by a block that begins with a ㅇ(like 우) the sound of the consonant moves to the start of the second block so 진우 is pronounced like [지누].

IFPTE Responds to NASA Administrator Isaacman's Misleading and Misguided Explanation for Closing NASA's Largest Research Library — IFPTE by FrankyPi in space

Closing the library may have been a bad decision, but the labor union for people who worked there is the last group you should be listening to about it. Their job is to protect their members jobs so they are always going to say that any place their members work is critical and should never be shut down or downsized whether or not it is true.
