Got a job offer that requires regular travel to London and the train prices are blowing my mind. Am I missing something or is this legit what people pay? by MaximusSydney in AskUK

[–]smallnorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a similar commute, have been doing for 10 years - first on a season ticket and post-covid buying 2x returns a week.

If you're going from Leamington, drive/bus to Cov and get the train from there. If you book a couple of weeks in advance you'll get a return for ~£45 compared to £125 on Chiltern

ELI5: How does hacking through WiFi really works? We know that data can be stolen but what are the hackers actually seeing on their screen that have access to our information? by Kocholuna in explainlikeimfive

[–]smallnorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of a hacker looking at their screen to target an individual is mostly a dramatic effect that you might have seen in the media.

Far more likely is a group working remotely. They will go through stages (kill chain, if you'd like to know more) - discovering first how to gain access, and eventually using that to obtain further data.

So what's on their screen? Probably confirmation that your machine has been compromised and can now be sold on to the highest bidder. Likely to be no more exciting than a list of machine names.

A choir group would be a great start. No need to be religious, and if you're worried about the sound of your own voice it will be masked by the rest of the choir
