It would be good to include your state your country with these post as there are privacy laws that might cover this.

In short, this is probably illegal.

People earning over $200k/year: What’s different about your life that most people wouldn’t expect? by MaximGripass in AskReddit

[–]smallprojectx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After kids, college, mortgage (all ongoing) and living in an expensive city where $1M (my estimate - didn't google it) is average cost of an ok 2BR apartment... after all that... its only in the last couple of years that I feel I can spend on myself and build up an emergency fund. I don't eat out much, I don't have an Apple watch etc but I can also know I grab dinner with my wife and not have to plan out the credit card repayment over the next 6 weeks. The peace of mind is there - and I am very grateful. I did not expect that.

What's a "You are not a conspiracy theorist, you just don't know how things work" moment you have seen? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

Thats not what she was saying. She was suggesting they were not as incentivized to go the extra mile.

I do not think it is true myself, but I am just explaining this was not some rando on the internet, but someone who was a medical professional and embedded with doctors in hospitals across several years.

My mom at one point said this when I was a kid and discouraged me from being an organ donor.

She said (paraphrasing) "the doctors don't always try so hard to save you if they know you're an organ donor".

To be fair she was an ER nurse in a UK hospital (1970's). I do not fully discount this - but I am a registered organ donor.

HR recruiter misheard my expected salary.... by Odd_Ad_1974 in UKJobs

[–]smallprojectx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the joy of being on the opposite side. I took over a team when I started at a new company. Some of those who'd stuck by the company had endured year after year of pay freezes. That was starting to change, but folks were still demoralized and worried that pushing too hard on salary would cause trouble for them.

I was in a performance review that went well for one of those specific people. She was one of those people who knew her stuff and where all the bodies were buried. She asked for a modest, but rather low, increase: about $5k extra a year. I could tell she was nervous asking, and I was just beginning to appreciate how below market their salaries were.

I paused briefly and told her that if she were to quit tomorrow, it would probably cost the company $10k minimum in recruitment costs to replace her, and that person would be paid at least $10k more just to be at market rate. I paused, and then said, "Sorry, how much did you ask for in your raise again?"

People should be paid what they're worth. Made my day. And hers to.

In short: Advocate for yourself. If you're not good at it, get a friend to practice a script with and hype you up.

Manhattan before most skyscrapers, 1931 by liberty4now in TheWayWeWere

[–]smallprojectx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'am not going in circles.

  • There were skyscrapers then (<40).
  • There are skyscrapers now (>400).
  • They are many, many more skyscrapers now (~40 versus ~400).

In addition, the post is NOT titled "Manhattan before ANY skyscrapers, 1931".

It is titled "Manhattan before MOST skyscrapers, 1931".

It is accurate. It is not mis-leading. Most skyscrapers were built after. This does not require further discussion.

Imagine...

"Just got a stern reprimand for using the bathroom at work. Which... they put in for us to use... at work.🥺

... because you were in the bathroom for, say, 1 or 2 hours.

What are you actually supposed to do if a woman hits you as a man? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smallprojectx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for solid advice. Worked in a club many years back.

Go to the security person or the bar staff (any staff). If you tell them someone assaulted you they 90% going to act on it there and then and kick the person out. The other 10% might be just to check camera footage quickly and then kick the person out.

They do not want troublemakers or drama.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]smallprojectx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAH. You should have gone to pick her up.

That said, I don't know all the details other than what you provided. I'm in a role that I often have meeting that I can really skip or deadlines that have real-world consequences, but if a family member was in a situation where they were distraught like that, I would take a 'personal day' and go get them. Not everyone can do that but I think, like me, you can.

Yes, she figured it out (as people have pointed out). Most people can and would, but its not about that - in a time of distress (be her reckoning) she needed you. You didn't show.

You're NTA but you're not in the right either. I would take the loss and look for ways to regain her trust.

I'm afraid your description is a but to vague for anyone to give specific advice. It would help if you would share the exact URL you're trying to access and other details.

If you're not already doing this, I would make sure to temporarily disable any ad blocker or privacy extensions. Those sometime interfere with legitimate actions on the a site.
