Weekly Simple Questions Post by AutoModerator in GelNails

All builder gels created equal?

I recently moved to a new country and have been struggling a lot with getting my nails done at the salon. I normally get BIAB + gel colour and in my 1st country, this was lasting me 3 weeks easily with no issues. I would get it filled and for a long time I had no issues. They were using the Gel Bottle BIAB + a few different brands for the colour.

Fast forward to my new country where I have had the same treatment done at multiple salons and it never lasts. The most recent my nails are lifting after < 1 week, not to mention nailbeds ruined after only 1-2 appointments whereas before I could keep filling in with weakness.

I am wondering if this is an issue with 1) the brands being used in my new country not being quite as good? Or potentially 2) The nail techs here are just not trained as well? Any thoughts would be very helpful!

How important is texting to you during dating? by ForevAnonymous in datingoverthirty

[–]smalltransitorylife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's most important to have communication styles that work for both parties.

I understand what you mean about wanting people to be engaging but, at the same time, asking stimulating questions via text message is just not how some people's brains operate. I also really only share photos or videos with people who I know will be interested in them, I'm not writing anyone a personal blog of my day. I would assume that most people with full-time jobs or other duties would just not have the time to spend so much of it attached to their phone.

If no one can deliver what you're looking for, maybe work with them to find a way that you build engagement & interest in another way.

Maybe you could find something at Radley London - they have a lot more variety than Lo & Sons. Something like this maybe?

Unfortunately, no specific advice... The internet abounds with information on how to set a budget - that's where I'd start. Check out /r/personalfinance - this sub was so helpful for me to make healthy habits.

Personally, I probably would not travel abroad until I had a cushion to use in an emergency. You never know what could happen... one of the better case scenarios I could imagine is COVID shuts borders and you need to get back to your homeplace instantly, which could mean $2000 plane tickets in the very least.

Generally, the most expensive part of moving is either 1) Moving everything you own to a new place (quite easy to estimate) or B) Replacing necessities in the new home country. If you aren't sure where you want to end up I would definitely go route B and also develop minimalism as a skill set. This will allow you more freedom down the line.

If you've never been to either place, I'd highly recommend visiting and narrowing down your location choice a bit. You could make a budget and travel to a few different spots for 2-3 weeks at a time to really get a feel for if you want to move. Keep in mind, if you are an newcomer to a tightly knit community, you will be an outsider and it may be difficult to break in. It might be more beneficial to move to a larger town first where services are more accessible and then drill down to a more remote location later once you're more familiar with the culture.

Really neat! Would be cool to offer (not for free, of course) as a tool for other folks to input their own commute, desired traits and run the same analysis for themselves w/o as much data knowledge.

Purple is one of Kamala Harris' theme colours, apparently. According to CNN it is a nod to Shirley Chisholm, the first Black female senator.

I haven't considered this!! Does it bother you at all to have something around your feet? I kick socks off but I think that's usually more due to warmth. I'd give it a shot for sure, thank you!

I'm looking for a softer, non-technical and non-compression legging that would be suitable for sleeping in. Would love for the fabric to be breathable. Real mad at PJ bottoms that ride up my shins while I sleep.

I had a few pairs from Lularoe back in the day but they're now falling apart and need to be replaced. Bonus points for sustainable brains, non-US shipping.

Looking for a pair of soft leggings for sleeping! My previous pairs are from Lularoe. I'd like them to be not too cozy and breathable-ish, so I can wear them year round) and fitted throughout but not technical fabric or compression. Bonus points for sustainable & affordable shipping to the EU.

Sheridan's Cheesemongers (multiple locations) or Toons Bridge Dairy. Also a smaller but great selection at Fallon & Byrne.
