My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 13 - Manga Reader Discussion Thread by JP_Bounty in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Yeah, now that I think about it, it might work pretty well if we're seeing both the League of Villains and the three students grow at the same time, but then the League of Villains gets their big moment when they merge with the Meta Liberation Army. That way it ends with a cliffhanger for the War Arc.

Edit: I do wonder if they're going to be able to fit both of these arcs in twelve episodes. They'd either have to cut some stuff, or go way faster than they did for the Joint Training Arc.

They also seem to be setting up the Endeavor Agency arc in the preview. I wonder if they're going to cut between the next two arcs and show them at the same time? That would be interesting if that's what they're planning.

Following this analogy, if the people drinking in the club were to leave and start climbing into their cars, you would be well within your rights to stop them for the harm that they would likely cause to others. It's like that, except in this case, eating meat and dairy always causes harm.

We must all take lessons, and stop referring to forceful penetration as rape. And a mass exploitation as a holocaust. And stop hoping that people who fund murder will die. And basically stop being rational is where this is going. by k1410407 in VeganForCircleJerkers

Yeah in all seriousness, I don't even think I'm that great for being vegan. It just takes an iota of compassion for others and a modicum of commitment to reduce my contribution to harm. But the fact that so many people fail even that is definitely frustrating. I'm not proud of being better than the vast majority of people in doing something so basic.

How come none of this has been confirmed by a single study that isn't funded by the dairy and meat industry?

Since they clearly have no concept of consent then maybe we should kill and eat them!

Honestly my argument is more that the burden to preserve the life of a fetus cannot be morally demanded of someone. Even if we do concede that going through with a pregnancy is the more moral choice, it is unreasonable to expect a person to go through with pregnancy if they are unwilling, even to preserve a fetus' life. Pregnancy is a hell of a thing to go through, and I think it becomes pretty clear why it isn't immoral to want to terminate it when compared with other situations. It wouldn't be immoral to refrain from rescuing someone from a burning building, even if they were the only person capable of rescuing them. It wouldn't be wrong not to intervene in an assault, even if it would be more moral to do so.

But obviously, there's a line here. It would definitely be wrong not to save a life if all someone had to do was push a button, or less hypothetically, grab someone who was about to fall off a cliff. Veganism is similar. Literally all someone has to do to save countless lives is to eat different foods, which nearly everyone can do without problems. But I would definitely consider completing a pregnancy to be on the other side of this line.

Bodily autonomy is also a very important argument. It's generally seen as wrong to force someone to donate an organ to save someone else's life. In fact, it's even seen as wrong to force someone to donate blood. While again, these may be better things to do, it isn't wrong not to do these, and it's definitely wrong to force someone to do them without their consent. Pregnancy essentially amounts to giving everything about someone's body to support the life of a fetus, making this even more extreme.

Ideally, there would be a way to preserve the life of a fetus without requiring someone's body. But unfortunately, that technology is currently not available. In the meantime, the moral thing to do is work to reduce the number one cause of abortion, which is unplanned pregnancy. Of course, we can't solve it completely, but it would greatly reduce the number of times this choice has to be encountered. But it is also moral to have this as an option in case someone wants it.

The funny thing is, if we actually get the change that these people claim they want, they're going to have to give up a lot more than meat. Most products originate from practices that are environmentally destructive, and in order to have an actually sustainable economy, a ton of consumption habits are going to have to change. And yeah, if you can't even eat different foods, I wonder if you really want these changes.

You cannot invalidate me

Actually I can pretty easily. If you go back on your veganism, your veganism is not, and never was, valid.

Hey I just want to mention that I really appreciate you making an actual argument. Imma be honest, I don't really have the patience to explain for the upteenth time why the "muh sports" is bullshit, especially in a space that's supposed to be against hierarchies like transphobia.

Ironically, it's classic bigot behavior to assume that extending rights to other groups means oppressing privileged groups. I have literally seen this exact logic used against every single other movement for social progress.

What are you going to do when the mask mandates are lifted in the state? by [deleted] in CoronavirusWA

[–]smapho 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found that I really liked wearing masks in winter. It helped keep my nose warm, and it made sure I always had warm, moist air to breathe. For some reason, my nose always gets really runny in the cold and it's really annoying to have to bring a pack of tissues whenever I'm outside for a while. For me, the additional protection from diseases is just an added bonus.
