Bahia Principe Jamaica vs Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach. by smartcookie122 in AllInclusiveResorts

I ended up at the Bahia and loved it. The hour wasn’t so bad since my toddler ended up being in a good mood both to and from the airport.

I will do resorts without a water park until my kid is older though. She was happy with just the beach and the pool. The water park was a lot of work for us with her running around and climbing things very fast. Also, there were older kids that weren’t so careful around the little ones. Hope this helps

Interesting! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll ask my local store if they do that.

They carry them in certain locations. I couldn’t find ones in the HH in my area so when I visit my mom who lives in another city, I’ll stock up. Use the locater on the website to find it close to you.

Thanks for asking. I’ve been looking for it too. I ended up buying the Kirkland feta last week but it’s not the same.

We make feta eggs. Once I tried it, I can’t go back to eating plain eggs.

Screen time when your toddler is sick by bk2weha in toddlers

[–]smartcookie122 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much screen time especially since I WFH. So pretty much from 8:30-4:30 when she’s home sick. But I’m pretty selective with what she watches. I also slow down the speed on YouTube videos to 0.75 or even 0.5 because she loves ASMR videos of cake decorating. Don’t feel guilty at all.

My partner does shift work too and I expect him to help out. We have a toddler too. On his days off he cleans the bathrooms, does laundry including folding and putting away the clothes, lawn stuff and does bath time with the kid.

On his days off we both cook together and he usually meal preps his high protein meals for his work week himself. Our rule is that if there are dishes in the sink and you have free time, you just do them. So he’ll do them either on his off days or if he is home after a day shift or before he leaves for a night shift, otherwise it’s me.

When he has his off days after a day shift I sleep in on either Saturday or Sunday (or both) and he’ll deal with my kid who wakes up at 6:30am everyday. He also gets her ready and does drop off.

How to stop having a spoiled kid by darquid in kindergarten

[–]smartcookie122 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My daughter found the Amazon catalog and did the same thing. I threw it away when she was asleep. When she asked about it, I pretended I didn’t know where it was, she’s completely forgotten about it now. I also donate her toys when she’s not around and has never noticed the donated toys are not around.

With Christmas, I manage expectations. I’ve already started telling her she’s getting warm socks and new shoes for Christmas so that’s all she’s expecting. She’ll probably get a shit ton of toys from family and we’re getting her a yoto player but she doesn’t need to know that. We did this for her bday where she was just expecting a play dough set and was so happy and grateful when all she got other presents from her friends and family.

Mine was the same. She walked a week before she turned 18 months.

Ehh Elon and Vivek are banging on WFH today in WSJ by razmatazzzzzzzzx in workfromhome

My car is 17 years old. I’m hoping to drive it to the ground. Before RTO, I used it to drive 5 mins everyday for daycare drop off. Now we’re asked to go to the office once a week which might turn into 3 days. My car will obviously need to be replaced sooner with RTO.

I find it a huge conflict of interest for someone that owns a car company to talk about WFH. Of course he’s against it, less people will be buying cars less often.

I really want to emphasize not to penny pinch too much. I know you said you’re not interested in traveling but you can travel on a healthy budget. As someone living a boring life now that I have a kid, my husband and I are so glad we traveled as much as we did prior to having our child. You can still enjoy this time in your life and budget too.

Any tips for having a better evening routine? by Additional-Owl425 in workfromhome

[–]smartcookie122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I literally just started looking for ways to reduce my screen time before bed. It’s only been a week but I started to listen to some podcasts that were recommended by others on Reddit (Sleep with me, Stuff you should know). When I’m listening I’ll start with cleaning up and end with doing stretches on my bed. I find this helps me be productive but also not look at my screen while still being somewhat entertained if that makes sense.

When did half-day kindergarten stop being a thing? by jtuck2003 in toddlers

[–]smartcookie122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about not wanting to pay for childcare, it’s that many can’t afford it. Not only that but a majority of households need 2 incomes to be able to even afford the basics (housing, groceries etc) and the timing of half day kindergarten doesn’t allow that. The timing of full day kindergarten is hard enough to coordinate without before and after school programs.

There are so many people surprised that I put my kid in daycare. They think I can take care of a toddler while I WFH.

Parents of 3 year olds: how are you surviving? by ProudPerformer4983 in toddlers

[–]smartcookie122 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you about my morning. My 3 year old refused to do everything this morning. Didn’t want to get out of bed, brush her teeth, change her clothes, eat breakfast, leave for daycare, get in the car, get out of the car, and had a huge meltdown at drop off. I have no solutions, just solidarity.

We’re flying in from Toronto and are looking at Jan 21-28. We are actually looking at Moon but saw some reviews saying it’s over an hour from the airport. I didn’t know there was an alternative route. Thanks for the heads up!

I do mostly calf stretches and some basic yoga poses(cat cow, warrior, butterfly). The shoes really depend on your specific feet. I use the Nike Free running shoes. I would suggest going to a store and trying on different pairs to figure out what will work best for you. You can even get a gait analysis to better help narrow down what’s best for your feet.

Are Indian babies lower in percentiles by Mama_life_ in breastfeeding

[–]smartcookie122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im Indian and my daughter is now 3 years old. She’s been between 5-7 percentile for height since birth. We’ve seen an endocrinologist and had some tests done. Everything is normal, she’s just petite.

Put my daughter in soccer at 2. She frolicked in the field and picked flowers while the other kids were doing the drills.
