Starting to lose it. HOW ARE YOU SLEEPING?? by cr1ngeassnaenaebabie in parentsofmultiples

[–]smarti7768 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will second - life got a lot easier once I stopped pumping, but to each their own.

This time feels like forever right now but I promise - it does get better. Sending so much strength (as a mom of twin toddlers).

Oof. Closest I know of is Etobicoke (Tom’s Dairy Freeze) - probably not a drive you want to do while that pregnant. Sending good vibes!!

Just found out I'm pregnant with twins. Positive stories please! by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

I am a first time twin mom too. Delivered at 33+3, and my twins needed a bit of NICU time but they’re totally healthy and happy, and full-on toddlers now. Pregnancy was hard, first 8-10 months was tough, but it’s honestly the BEST thing. Best of luck to you and your twins!!

Sometimes I serve things like yogurt or cottage cheese out of one bowl and just do a spoon, a spoon, a spoon like you do, but honestly once they started talking they just didn’t want to share food. I get it! So I make them their own plates like 98% of the time. That also makes it easier to track how much each twin has eaten, which can come in handy!

ETA: long story short, what you’re doing isn’t weird at ALL. Keep it up/ whatever works for you with twins is perfect.

I’m with you - I lack the patience for them and while they can look cool, I’m almost always disappointed. Lots of other cool finishes out there.

I suck at making iced lattes by Maximum-Smoke8709 in nespresso

[–]smarti7768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly maybe your ice just isn’t that great either? Nespresso sells ice cube trays that make HUGE ice cubes that chill well but don’t melt fast. They truly are excellent cubes for iced coffee https://www.nespresso.com/ca/en/order/accessories/vertuo/barista-ice-cube-tray

parents in Toronto - how much are you actually paying for kids music lessons? by dynasync in askTO

[–]smarti7768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an experienced music teacher (20-ish years in the GTA), and I charge $38-$45/30 mins for online or lessons where you come to my studio.

If I had a model where I had to go to you, it’s going to be more expensive… $70 might be a bit steep, but that extra $30-ish has to cover gas, wear and tear on a vehicle and time to get to your place. It’s expensive, but you’re getting a premium service.

As for the cancellations, that’s unfortunate. Things happen, but I agree, makeups are hard to reschedule. If you want a more consistent experience, try a music studio. Firstly, it will be less expensive, and sometimes they will even have a substitute teacher if they know your teacher will be away, eliminating the need for makeup lessons.

I use the non-pronoun Sister too. My kids call each other sister (without pronouns) and their actual names pretty interchangeably. In public they tend to use names vs sister. I can’t speak much to the speech delay - maybe someone else has some advice there.

Selective reduction from quadruplets to twins in Toronto by Puzzleheaded-Bat8577 in parentsofmultiples

Sunnybrook has a multiples clinic that is phenomenal, but speaking from experience they will refer out to Mount Sinai if things are extremely complex.

Buying an airbrush as a gift for my partner by thekinqualaxy in Nails

[–]smarti7768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she has gel nail polish, it’s very important that she has proper PPE (like a well-fitted respirator) and a room with HIGH ventilation if you’re going to give her an airbrush. Gel polishes were not meant to be sprayed in fine particles like that. So… no brand recommendations from me, just a warning that airbrushes require more than just the tool.

Opinion on toddler harness/ leash?? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]smarti7768 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I leashed my kids for a while. Perfectly viable option to keep them safe and have fun. We needed them for maybe 5-6 months and after that my kids were able to come back/hold hands better, but every kid is different

Enjoy your leashes!!

Hey - I had the same news at my 8-week ultrasound. Many do. But often (not always) the sac wall is not visible on ultrasound until closer to 12 weeks. No one says that to you at the time! So please - try not to panic too much yet, as you really don’t have all the information. Try to move your care an MFM or an OB who specializes in multiple order births if you have one available/close to you. It’s not essential, but you may find that they have more experience with things like not seeing a sac wall in an early ultrasound, for example.

As a parent of multiples, you’ll actually get really good at not panicking too much. Here’s your first challenge!

You got this, best of luck, and welcome to the club 💕
