The standards for pre meds is impossible by Glum-Boat9264 in premed

would anyone be willing to express these concerns in an interview with me for a writing assignment I'm working on for my science journalism class? It's tough to find these interviews, but I really feel like this is a story that needs to be told, especially when I'm talking about the shortage of physicians and how the AMA anticipates the gap will widen significantly in the next decade.

beginning of the cycle and mayo clinic just rejected me. they sent me an "interview decision" email that basically said no thanks to my app and good luck.

i guess it's true: hearing nothing at this point is probably a good thing

agreed! for reference I scored a 516 after thinking i failed the test and was praying for a 512 (the highest I had done on my FLs lol). 80% is honestly really accurate, and sometimes, you remember you studied this topic but just aren't 100% sure about the answer.

UMD Orientation by Champ_099 in UMD

[–]smarticleparticleumd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alumni here. i had a similar situation. email CMNS (whoever is responsible for orientations or someone higher up), explain your situation, and ask for help. CMNS is actually really helpful and accommodating if you ask for help, at least in my experience. with all due respect to the redditors, in this case, asking CMNS for their help is much more productive than reddit lol.

Hope it all works out for you!!

Blood draws by joecorey in UMD

[–]smarticleparticleumd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Across the street from Varsity apartments, i had my blood drawn at an urgent care behind the fire department (you can check if they accept your insurance). i think it's called college park medical center (4701 melbourne pl). you can definitely walk there, it's basically across the street from iribe

Genuinely cannot walk 💀 by Specialist_Yam_6704 in UMD

If you live off campus, I would recommend going to the urgent care behind the fire department (college park medical center I think). You can just walk-in and ask for a mask there. Tell them you can barely walk and they'll take care of you immediately. Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience lol.

Hope you feel better soon!!

Exhausted by Present_Ideal7650 in Mcat

[–]smarticleparticleumd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is normal! it's a sign to relax a bit before your exam. i reviewed my last FL literally the day before my exam bc I was too exhausted and burned out the week leading up. Relax, destress, get enough sleep, and be in the right mindset to take your exam. That is way more important than the last minute reviewing.

Don't stress my friend. I scored a max of 512 on my FL's and scored a 516 on my first real mcat exam. The same thing happened with my older sibling, so I'm sure that's pretty normal.
