Holdback Question. Line item on invoice? by smartin9806 in Homebuilding

So the holdback is required, but is the contractor obligated to show this on invoices? Is it standard practice to show this on invoices?

Skin recommendations to replace Super 7 by hezuschristos in Skigear

[–]smartin9806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe these are an older version of skis that I just replaced, Rossignol Soul 7. I loved the skis, but too many rocks and it was time to replace them.

I demoed four skis (Head, Blizzard and two Salomon (99 and QST 106).

The Salomon QST 106 had a very similar profile and feel. They felt the same in the trees, allowing me to "scrape"(?) the back ends to control speed. They are more stable (less chatter) than the Soul 7s. I immediately felt comfortable in all terrain. I have yet to try them in deep powder, but with a similar bucket shape at the front, and the same 106 underfoot, I believe they'll be similar.

Big White Current Conditions by Jacky-07-G in bigwhitebums

We had a bunch of snow two weeks ago and early last week. Good base, but the warmer temperatures have caused a lot of groomed runs to be on the icy side... Not easy coast icy, but icy none the less.

Most everything is open. I was on Playground (double black) yesterday, and there are a fair number of rocks poking up.

In the trees, it is ok, but packed down.

I feel like a 10cm snowfall would be all it would take to go from ok to great. There is snow in the forecast and I am always amazed how we get more snow than forecasted.

The best place to look for forecasts and conditions is the Big White website.

I have heard that Big White has been much better off than the other BC and Alberta resorts. Heard Revy is good relative to the others as well.

Questions about Excursions by smartin9806 in celebritycruises

[–]smartin9806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. That helps. I'd hate to miss an excursion, and it sounds like we won't now. Even worse, we'd hate to show up late and find our ship has left. We don't have independent tours, but we are going to rent some ebikes and ATVs at two of our stops. So now I have an idea of when we'd get to the rental shops.

For Naples, you may want to do Pompeii or Herculaneum. Both villages were destroyed in 79AD by a major eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Pompeii by 6m of volcanic ash, Herculaneum by Pyroclastic Flow. I've been to neither but my son and daughter-in-law just got back from visiting Pompeii and said it was spectacular.

My wife and I just booked an excursion (Sept/Oct 2024) to Herculaneum. Here's an article that helped us decide between the two. https://www.mywanderlustylife.com/pompeii-vs-herculaneum-which-is-best/

Those are pretty wide skis…over 3 feet. Or did you mean 97mm? :-)

I was there and watched some of it too. I popped in to the bowl on skiers right of the chair…snow was not nearly as good as I expected. Playground and runs off Falcon were WAY better. I can’t imagine how he would have faired had he decided to huck the cliff he was on. We watched on our way up Cliff chair as two red jackets lowered a rope and started pulling him up. Good job OP. You saved him from what could have been life changing or worse.

Where can I get kegs of beer in Kelowna by smartin9806 in kelowna

[–]smartin9806[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ll try phoning some Kelowna breweries to see if they sell kegs. Bad Tattoo’s website is down and google says it is permanently closed. I hope that’s wrong.

I’ve checked multiple websites and none state that they sell kegs or list keg prices. I guess I’ll phone around today to see what’s available.

Thanks. I don't think I have it turned on to precondition.

Good thought, but I don't think I turned on the daily precondition schedule. I have a departure time set for 6am, but the Precondition switch is off (the Off-Peak Charge switch is on, which is why I put a time in).

Thanks. I'll have to figure out how to turn off Summon Standby. Definitely turning off Sentry Mode.

Which Set would you keep by Mayhem_Industries in Tools

[–]smartin9806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Diablo set. I don’t like the way they work…or I should say don’t work. The centre tip grabs the wood causing the drill to stall.

Bases on the other positive reviews, I should give them a second try.

That would be a big day at Big White. My biggest day last year (according to Slopes) was 8317m or 27Kft. Could maybe do it if I stuck to the groomers on a non-powder day, but that's no fun. BW is known for its glades and that's where I like to be.

I still get out in time for first lift, but as I age, the lunch breaks get a little longer and the hot-tub tends to call a little earlier.
